FALL 2015 HIGHLIGHTS TOP MARYLAND JUNIOR SIGNS WITH TERPS Sydney Mills’ smile says it all; Maryland is excited to have you! Source: Maryland Women’s Golf Welcome to the Maryland Women’s Golf Newsletter where you will receive seasonal updates on our program’s progress. You will have the opportunity to learn more about our student-athle tes as well as support our team by following our successes! Addition of two freshmen to the team: They share both Italy and a rst name! Ludovica Farina, from Siracusa, Italy, has been a member of the Italian National Team for over 6 years. She brings extensive tournament experience and knowledge of the game! Ludovica Scandroglio is from beautiful Milan, Italy. Power and length off the tee is her strength; she will develop into a key player for our team. We kept our tradition of kicking off the season in Charleston, S.C. at the Cougar Classic. The team has attended this event for 13 straight years and enjoys playing at Yeamans Hall Golf Club. What a beautiful place to start the year! Testudo takes advantage of the colorful fall leaves as a prime time to visit our team on the golf course! Source: Maryland Women’s Golf Freshman Ludovica Farina led the team at our second event, the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate, as she shot a 69 during the nal round. As a result of her strong play, she capped her rst top 20 nish with a tie for 18th. The Mercedes Benz hosted a strong eld with 5 top 25 teams and 9 top 60 teams in the nation. During the Pinehurst Challenge, the TERPS posted a season tournament low of 873 (+9) in three rounds. We nished the tournament strong with the lowest third round score of the day 3 under 285! Panitta Yusabai, Ludovica Farina and Ludovica Scandroglio led the TERPS with a 20th place nish in the individual standings. Farina matched her season low round of 69, while Yusabai and Scandroglio also shot their season low rounds of 71. During the season, we had a total of 9 individual rounds of even or better Cantú on Mills: “We are really excited about adding a Maryland native to our roster. Sydney has shown great improvement and growth within her game the past 2 years. She is a great player and excellent student, who will excel both on and off the golf course. Sydney will bring a ton of Maryland Pride to our team. Reasons Mills Chose Maryland: “It’s close to home, love the coaches, and wanted to be a TERP!”

XIAOLIN TIAN SIGNS TO PLAYFOR MARYLAND

Xiaolin is one of the top players in Italy. This year she reached a worldamateur ranking inside the top 200 in the world. Some highlights from herseason include: 2nd place nish at the Dutch Brabants Open, top 15 nish

at the Italian International Amateur Championship, 5th place nish during the strokeplay portion of the Spanish Ladies Amateur Championship, and advancing to thequarternals of the match play portion of the Spanish Ladies Amateur Championship.Xiaolin is originally from China and moved to Italy when she was 12 years old.

Cantú on Xiaolin:

“Xiaolin is a very talented player who will come in and havean immediate impact on the team. She is a strong athleticplayer who does a great job managing her game and thegolf course. Xiaolin has a lot of international competitiveexperience that will help her transition well to college andtake our program to new heights. We are super excited toadd her to our TERP Family!”
