This internet rumor supposedly challenges children by taking them through a social media app to carry out dangerous tasks that could include harming themselves or others. We are not aware of any reports of students accessing this type of content, and, in fact, online platforms such as YouTube have confirmed that no such videos or games exist on their web- site. While we do not believe this is a credible concern, we think this is a good opportunity for you to talk to your child about online and internet safety and ensure you take all necessary steps for safety on electronic devices at your home, including: Discuss proper etiquette for cyberspace with your child. Be careful about who you give personal information to and what kinds of things you share. Become and remain positively engaged in your student’s online activities. Ensure that you set up parental controls – this will help restrict what your child can and cannot see online. Parent Survey Open

Dear Bulldog Parents,

Recently, a viral internet hoax called the “Momo Challenge” has been reported in the news.

This internet rumor supposedly challenges children by taking them through a social media app

to carry out dangerous tasks that could include harming themselves or others.

We are not aware of any reports of students accessing this type of content, and, in fact, online

platforms such as YouTube have confirmed that no such videos or games exist on their web-

site.

While we do not believe this is a credible concern, we think this is a good opportunity for you

to talk to your child about online and internet safety and ensure you take all necessary steps for

safety on electronic devices at your home, including:

• Discuss proper etiquette for cyberspace with your child.

• Be careful about who you give personal information to and what kinds of things you share.

• Become and remain positively engaged in your student’s online activities.

• Ensure that you set up parental controls – this will help restrict what your child can and

cannot see online.

You can find more resources on our website at https://www.hillsboroughschools.org/doc/1148

Again, this is an internet hoax, so an internet site does not currently exist where children can

get access. However, please be assured if a site like this becomes known in the future, we

would take steps to make sure our district’s internet filter would block it.

The safety of our students is a top priority so we want to take every precaution to alert par-

ents whenever we become aware of issues that could impact our students.

Colleen Faucett Principal

The Parent SCIP (School Climate Perception Inventory) is offered exclusively online this year in

both English and Spanish. Each parent is assigned a unique survey code that is linked to their

child’s school results.

Parents have received a survey participation request every Wednesday via email for each child

enrolled in the district. Once a parent completes the survey the participation request will be

discontinued.

Thank you local businesses! Many thanks for Carrabbas and Sorrento Sweets for providing salad and sweets for the recent

PTSA Red Card Lunch at Kate Jackson Park!

our high school credit and EOC (end of course) courses. If your child is enrolled in Civics, this is a

state EOC course. The sessions below are provided at no charge to students and students can attend

any session that will work into their morning schedule provided space is available. You will see that on

some mornings there are 2 separate sessions offered. Have your child talk to their Civics teacher

about signing up for this wonderful opportunity. Your child MUST SIGN UP TO ATTEND in

order to be allowed to enter the building prior to 9:00am.

SAC Meeting Date Change...

The March meeting will take place on March 12,

2019 instead of March 26, 2019.
