Date: This is used to inform and educate the audience when the new series will be on, so that the audience can ensure they are free.

Institution Logo: The logo is in white and is prominent so that it stands out from the dark background and so the brand is recognised. This is so that the audience are informed to what channel it is going to be on.

Tagline: This suggest that there is going to be a drastic event, that may result is some characters leaving the show and will entice the audience as o what may happen.

Image: The fire connotes that things are getting out of control. And so may suggest that the characters life's are spinning out of control. The characters are shown to be naked in order to connote that they feel vulnerable as they are revealing their fears. The fire that has engulfed the characters bodies connotes that the conflicts they are fighting in themselves is consuming them. This season on Hollyoaks there will be much conflict between the characters.

Image: All the characters except one are looking into the camera to build tension and suggest that the girl looking towards the floor is not aware of what is going on around her and so may feel vulnerable

Ident: this is used to inform and educate the audience what this new Soap is called and so they can get a feel to what it may be about

Date and time: this informs the audience as to when the Soap will be on so the audience can ensure they will be free to watch it

Image: these images are in dark lighting and have been taken in a dark room to give the effect of disequilibrium (Todorov). The tape that says ‘do not cross’ signifies the soap to be based around a big crime and so will entice the audience

Tagline: leads the audience to question what has happened, whether someone has been murdered? It looks effective as it has been placed around the edges of the poster and so this forces the audience to look at the full poster, so they will be greatly interested in finding out what happens

Institution logo: This is so that the audience are informed to what channel it is going to be on

What do I wish to ‘repeat’ (Neale)? In the first Poster I feel that the tagline is very effective as it will lead the audience to question what will happen in this episode and therefore encourage them to watch the Soap, as change suggests that something drastic is going to happen. And so with my own poster I wish to create an effective tagline that will entice the audience. Also, Hollyoaks attracts a similar target audience so this poster will be useful as inspiration. In the third poster, the dark lighting on the photos sets an atmosphere of disequilibrium (Todorov) and so is something I wish to repeat in my own Poster. Furthermore, the colours used are simple and so do not cause to much confusion, which makes it effective in attracting an audience.

How will my poster offer ‘difference’ (Neale)? In the second poster it differs much from the other two as this posters creates a sense of community and so a more joyful atmosphere, where as in my soap opera there is more a sense of disequilibrium (Todorov). So therefore in my trailer I will make it different by using dark colours that connote danger and conflict. Furthermore in the firstposter they have not put an ident which I feel is an important feature in showing what the name of the soap opera is so it can be easily identified and so an ident is something I wish to use in my own trailer.
