Deadline Extended! Competitive Essay Award of theWimpfheimer­Guggenheim Fund

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation offers theCompetitive Essay Award for International Exchange inNutrition, Dietetics and Management through theWimpfheimer­Guggenheim Fund. This award is given toprovide for the international exchange of needed nutrition,dietetic and/or management information for the benefit ofthe nutritional health of the world community. Research Grant Applications

Research grant applications are being accepted by the AlproFoundation for research related to plant­based diets andtheir impact on human health. Projects can include thoseexploring the protein quality, gastrointestinal effects,sustainability of plant­based diets, among others. Applicationdeadline is April 7, 2013. For more information,contact [email protected]. The National Institute of Child Health and HumanDevelopment/NIH/DHHS invites applications for projectsrelating to school nutrition and physical activity policies andtheir effect on obesogenic behaviors and weight outcomesunder three different grant schemes. Application deadline isJune 5, 2013. More information can be obtained on thewebsite (NIH Research Project scheme, NIHExploratory/Development scheme, NIH Small Research Grantscheme).

Submission for Changes or Additions to theAcademy's International Dietetics and NutritionTerminology (IDNT) Welcome

In 2014, the Academy will publish the next edition ofthe International Dietetics and Nutrition Terminology (IDNT)Reference Manual. The current IDNT, Fourth Edition debutedin August 2012 and is available at www.eatright.org/shop.

Submissions for changes or additions to the standardizedlanguage are due on or before March 31, 2013. Countries ororganizations, in the U.S. and internationally, need notsubmit as a group (e.g., country, practice or other);individual submissions are welcome. Further, groupsubmissions do not need unanimous support. Majority andminority opinions may accompany the submission. TheNutrition Care Process/Standardized Language (NCP/SL)Committee will review the submissions between April andDecember 2013. The Procedure to Submit Changes to the NCP Vocabularydetails the necessary components of a submission and isavailable on the Academy website. Submissions andquestions can be directed to Donna Pertel,[email protected].
