HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY TEXTS?QUESTION TWO

Page 2: Evaluation Question Two- How Effective Is The Combination Of Your Main

• Throughout my music video my artist is down, and alone, she also

spends quite a lot of time outside trying to escape, this all links into

my digipak and poster by that I used a dull colour to represent that

she isn’t okay and that she lonely, however she will cope she needs

time and independence to get over the break. But I also used an

image of my artist on my poster with her back turned walking away,

then on my digipak and poster I have leafs featuring on both, on my

digipak it is on my CD, the on my poster it is around my artist.

• My products would be easily identifiable to my audience by that if they

watch the music video first they would know what features in my music

video to when they look they for the digipak or poster as they have the same

house style they can find them both easily, on my poster it features my

artist with her back against everyone, and in my music video in one of the

shots she is walking away from everyone, so by looking at the poster of the

image they would be able to identify her. With my digipak the front cover

features my artist with her guitar in a field, this also appears in my music

video which then makes it more identifiable for my audience to able to find

her digipak.

• I didn’t go with many stereotypes within my music video, poster or digipak, this is

because when I was doing my research within clothing not all artists were completely

covered, and I wanted to show that my artist has respect for herself and realises that

what she wears people would judge, so within my music video my artist is covered up,

and showing that she does have respect for herself, which then starts create a positive

star image, and when someone talks about her they would talk about her politely

rather than talking about her in a negative manor and by having a negative star image

could then lead to my artist lacking self-confidence, so by showing that she doesn’t

have to expose certain body parts shows that she has the confidence to be able to say

that she doesn’t need to dress like most artist by showing body parts to get the

attention, she will put clothing on that she likes and feels comfortable in rather than

putting clothing on that she doesn’t overly like and feels self-conscious.

• This then shows her audience that you dress the way you want to not what everyone dresses like or what they want you to dress like. I took in counter with the research I did on Laura Mulvey- The Male Gaze Theory, by that she spoke about visual pleasure by that females are to be looked at, so I thought within my music video because the females are expected to look a certain way I would then challenge this and not make my artist just to be looked at and to be able to wear what she wants and not to be just looked at for visual pleasure. I also found when researching about Laura Mulvey’stheory that men feature in music video they have females also in their music video to show that the males are the dominant ones and the females follow their lead, to prove that the males have are the stronger sex. So within my music video I decided I didn’t want any males in my music video this is because it shows that she can be on her own even if she has broken up with her boyfriend that she will okay.
