From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters:

God has blessed us abundantly and in plenty. He con nues to pour out his abundant bless-ings on us. At the same me he invites us to be close to him and pray to him. Prayer has a prominent place in the Chris an religious prac ce. The liturgy of this Sunday discusses some aspects of prayer and its applica on to life. The readings tell us that God listens espe-cially to the sinner and the humble. O en we wonder why God is par al in his dealing with human persons. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us about the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, the story that shows the way to being right with God. They both went to the privileged place to pray. Some mes we think that God listen more to the good people who keep his laws rather than those who con nuously break them. That was certainly the a tude of the Pharisee as indicated in the parable. In-deed, the prayer of the humble pierces the clouds and it will not rest un l it reaches its goal. The first reading taken from the Book of Sirach tells us that the prayer of the humble man will always be answered and the best prayer is that of willing loyal service. Sirach reminds us that God knows no favorites ex-cept towards the poor, the powerless and the oppressed. What is our a tude towards the poor, the powerless and the oppressed? A sin-cere thanks to all of you who worked hard for the successes of our fall fes val. Let us con n-ue to work in unity to build up our Church physically and spiritually. Fr. Anil Thomas, S.V.D.

Dios nos ha bendecido abundantemente y en abundancia. Él con núa derramando sus abundantes bendiciones sobre nosotros. Al mismo empo, nos invita a estar cerca de él y a orar a él. La oración ene un lugar promi-nente en la prác ca religiosa cris ana. La litur-gia de este domingo describe algunos aspec-tos de la oración y su aplicación a la vida. Las lecturas nos dicen que Dios escucha especial-mente al pecador y al humilde. A menudo nos preguntamos por qué Dios es parcial en sus tratos con los seres humanos. En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos habla del fariseo y del publi-cano, la historia que muestra el camino para estar bien con Dios. Ambos fueron al lugar pri-vilegiado para orar. A veces pensamos que Dios debe estar escuchando más a la gente buena quien cumple sus mandamientos en lugar de aquellos que los rompen con nua-mente. Ese fue, sin duda, la ac tud del Fari-seo, como se indica en la parábola. De hecho la oración del humilde traspasa las nubes y no descansará hasta que alcanza su obje vo. La primera lectura, tomada del libro de Sirácides, nos dice que la oración del hombre humilde siempre será respondida y la mejor oración es que desea el servicio leal. Sirácides nos re-cuerda que Dios no ene favori smo excepto hacia los pobres, los débiles y los oprimidos. ¿Cuál es nuestra ac tud hacia los pobres, los débiles y los oprimidos? Un agradecimiento sincero a todos los que trabajaron fuertemen-te para el éxito de nuestro fes val de otoño. Sigamos trabajando en unidad para edificar nuestra iglesia sica y espiritualmente.

of games and ge ng to know each other, our teens named their group Fons Adulesen a, which means fountain of youth in La n and their mo o is “Let no one disregard you because you are young, but be an example to all the believers in the way you speak and behave, and in your love, your faith and your purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12.

We welcome all teens, ages 14-17 to our All Saints Day potluck on Sunday, October 30th at 1:30PM in the School Building.
