Please respond with the reason by text to 3255, you must start your message with the following code: HunPrimary space then your message. We hope this will make communication easier. FREE SCHOOL LOOP APP is also available - keep up to date with the latest news and newsletters A note from Whaea Peta Maree: Dear Parents & Caregivers Welcome to the “new normal” and Level 1 of the COVID-19. It’s been a long journey of time away and online learning but it is awesome to have most of our students back and sitting in our classes, enjoying their class learning and spending time with their peers again. We have really appreciated your support and understanding during this pandemic and have tried to keep you well informed as it’s developed. A huge welcome to our new families and whanau that have recently joined us. Our Junior school numbers continue to grow and the Board of Trustees are very committed to maintaining smaller teacher / student ratios to enable the best learning environment and opportunities. We are opening a new junior room - Kakapo Whanau which will be in the Meeting room, between Room 5 and the staff room. This will be taught by Whaea Bri and 20 of her students from Room 2, plus those that were moved to Room 3 during Level 2. Mrs Robinson will continue to work in Room 2 with 15 students and Whaea Melissa will be teaching while she is doing her Reading Recovery. This is an exciting time for us while we try really hard to keep numbers down. The building / renovations of the Middle school - Rooms 6, 7 & 8 has been delayed by a few weeks although we have already re-housed them in the hall & library. Level 1: As you are aware the country has moved into Level 1. We are currently maintaining the procedures that we’ve implemented for level 2: No whanau / parents in the school environment Teachers are out meeting the students and sanitising hands. No breakfast club No vans running These are getting reviewed as we continue to make progress. Our drinking fountains are now open The vans will definitely be operating in term 3 but it will no longer be a door-to-door service as this is not practical with our high number of users and problematic from a Health & Safety point of view. We will be implementing bus stops for all three vans to arrive at and shuttle back to school. We will communicate these to you over the next few weeks and will probably have a practice run in week 12 for the last week of term, so that we are all sorted for term 3. More information will be sent out as we make a definite plan of times and places. Attendance; Please keep letting us know if your child is not coming to school so that we can code the absenteeism correctly.
