In anticipation of the foreign experts will officially in the Stateof Indonesia, due to the liberalization of services survey soongoing to happen in the next 2013.

That is why we come to these challenges, to increase the ca-pacity and knowledge to its inspectors, with a diploma in edu-cation programme of inspection only in Indonesia, where itsgraduates will be awarded certificates national or internationalmarine.

3 Easy Steps to Choosing your Level One

Diploma Course

The First Level Diploma consist of seven Core Modules and Specialist Modules. The Core Modules are

compulsory and are to be studied by all students.

First decide which diploma you are going to study. Review the Specialist Modules in that section and choose the

specialist modules that you wish to study. Indicate your choices on the application form.

All modules contain a Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) which is a compulsory element for obtaining a Diploma

or Certificate. The TMAs are an important part of the course as they provide the student and the tutor with a

progress marker during the course. They also count towards a maximum of 30% of a Diploma candidate’s total

mark with the remaining 70% being awarded for the examination.

The Course

Teaching Method The course is delivered by distance learning. Deliver y of Modules Modules and any other materials will be posted business rateairmail

For Indonesia and /SE ASIA, Modules will be sent from JIMC Jakarta

Every ef f ort will be made by the organisers to send the

modules out monthly but due to unforeseen circumstancescannot be held liable for any delays.

Cor e Modules The seven compulsory core module subjects provide the basicknowledge for the whole course.

Specialist Modules For Yacht and Small Craft students modules are designated. For study for all other diplomas, there are many specialist modules

to choose from which allow for key areas of interest. Four of

these specialist modules must be studied to be awarded a

Diploma. Additional specialist modules in blocks of four may be

taken up to a maximum of eight specialist modules in any oneexam period.

Course Duration The course lasts for approximately 12 months commencing 1st

February,2010 with the mailing of the f irst core module.

Tutor-Marked Assignments

(TMA ) One with each module. They are a compulsory element of the

course and must be completed prior to the exam.Self-assessed Questions Some modules contain self-assessment questions, designed

to

help candidates consolidate their knowledge. Answers are provided for these questions.

The Examination

Exam Date November 2010 and April 2011 - dates to be advised.Exam Length Two examinations: core module examination and specialist

module examination. Both Examinations take place on the

same day with a f ifteen-minute break between. Both are open- book examinations.

Sitting Overseas Arrangements can be made for candidates to sit the exam inhe country in which they are based at the time, subject to

available support facilities such as JIMC office Jakarta

Certificate If you choose not to sit the exam and subject to successfulcompletion of the Tutor Marked Assignments, candidates will

receive a certificate.For interest only You may take the course to broaden your own ex perience and

knowledge without acquiring a qualification. You will receive

the basic core modules but do not have to undertake theassignments or sit the exam.

The Marking Structure

Tutor Marked Assignments Constitutes 30% of the f inal mark.

Core Module Examination Constitutes 22% of the f inal mark.

Specialist Module Examination Constitutes 48% of the f inal mark. Pass Mark 75% for each examination.

The overall pass mark for the Diploma including TMAmarks is 75%.

The Modules

Presentation Each module will be presented in a bound, printed format andis designed to be self-contained. However , we highlyrecommend that candidates make every ef f ort to increase

Tutor Support

Seminars There will be two tutorial seminars, one in May and one in

October each year. The October seminar will be held before

the exam. They are not compulsory but are beneficial and arean excellent opportunity to meet fellow candidates, the CourseProgramme Manager, authors and tutors.

Studying TimeCore and Specialist Modules

We recommend 10 to 30 hours study time for each module,

with additional time being set aside for completing the Tutor Marked Assignments.

Entry Criteria- “A” level standard or equivalent ( High School )

- Five years plus of relevant experience.- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent and minimum DTI Class Two

Certificate of Competency

- Candidates with no formal qualifications but who can

demonstrate a number of years relevant industry

experience are welcome to apply.

These are a guideline only as all applicants will be

vetted by the Course Programme Manager who holds the finaldiscretion on acceptance.

Language of the Course

The course will be conducted entirely in English, in verbal andwritten format.

Payment must be made with application by cheque, bank

transfer. Fees will be refunded in full should

applications be declined.

Certificate Fee

The basic course fee is Rp. 27,000,000,-this covers the core modules.

Diploma Fee

For Diploma candidates the fee is Rp.39,000,000,- this covers thecore modules, 4 specialist modules, examination costs andthe issuing of a Diploma.Air Courier Fee

Options

Additional Specialist Modules, per blocks of four, are availableat Rp. 14,900,000,-

Air Courier Fee

An additional total fee of Rp.2,800,000,-. This is recommended for candidates in areas which have problems with their mail postal system. Other overseas mail will be mailed by air. Nothing is sent by surface mail.
