  • St. Thomas College (Autonomous), Thrissur is theoldest Catholic College in Kerala. It was establishedin 1919 as a Second Grade College affiliated to theUniversity of Madras. It was the earliest First GradeCollege in the erstwhile princely State of Cochin andis, at present, one of the largest and most reputed ofthe Arts and Science Colleges in Kerala.

    The College is now affiliated to the University ofCalicut. It is managed by the Archdiocese of Thrissur.At the national level, the college has been re-accredited with 3.58 on four point scale at A Grade.College enjoys a unique status in the University ofCalicut for high academic results, excellence insports and cultural activities. The UGC grantedAutonomous Status to the College from 13.06.2014onwards and Sri. Oommen Chandy, the HonbleChief Minister of Kerala formally declared the sameon 16.09.2014 at a solemn function held here.

    M.Sc.The candidate should have obtained at least 50%marks in the concerned core subject excludingsubsidiaries at the B.Sc. degree examination.

    M.A. & M.Com.The minimum marks prescribed for admission is 45%in the concerned core subjects.

    M.A. EnglishAny UG Degree with at least 45% of marks forlanguages (either in Part II or Part III). There will beentrance test conducted for applicants whose coresubject is not English.

    MSWAny UG Degree with 50 % aggregate marks excludingthe marks for part II Second Language. Selection toMSW will be based on qualifying examination marks,entrance test, group discussion and personalinterview.

    M.Sc. Computer ScienceB.Sc. in Computer Science or B.C.A. Degree with atleast 50% marks are eligible for the admission.Selection to M.Sc. Computer Science (Aided & SelfFinancing) will be based on qualifying examinationmarks & entrance test.

    M.Sc. ElectronicsThe candidates should have obtained at least 50%marks in B.Sc. Electronics/Physics/Computer Science/Instrumentation (core) or equivalent Degree with atleast 50% marks for Part III.

    Application for Ph.D.registration will be acceptedby the Research Supervisors inconsultation with the ResearchCouncil and as per the rulesand regulations of the Universityof Calicut.

    SPECIALINSTRUCTIONS

    In view of the Verdict issued bythe Honble High Court ofKerala, Political Activism isstrictly banned in the campus bythe Management. Strikes arestrictly prohibited. Strict actionwill be taken as per the lawagainst the students whoinvolve in such offences.Ragging, Substance Abuse andMobile Phones are banned in thecampus. All other rules printedin the College Manual arebinding to the students. TheCandidate provisionallyselected must bring his/herparent / guardian at the timeof the interview.

  • APPLICATION PROCEDURE (UG)Candidates must meet all eligibility require-ments. Prospectus together with the Applica-tion Form is available at the college website.

    INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES:-

    Step 1: Requirements for Online Registration:

    1. Please read the Prospectus available inour Website carefully before filling up theApplication Form.

    2. Candidate must have a valid email id. Ifhe/she does not have an email id, createone.

    3. All correspondence regarding the Admis-sion Process will be communicated to thisemail id.

    4. A scanned copy of his/her Passport sizePhoto (within 6 months) having the size of200pxl * 150pxl.

    5. Photocopies of the SSLC, HSE/EquivalentCertificate.

    Step 2: Online Registration Process:

    1. Visit College Website (stthomas.ac.in) andclick Admission 2015 link.

    2. New user click the Register button (al-ready registered students give the emailid and password for editing or printing theApplication Form).

    3. New user after filling up the logging de-tails (NAME, EMAIL ID, PHONE NO. & DOB)- will get the password through his/her

    email id. Use this password for further loginprocess.

    4. Please fill up the Form carefully and uploadthe scanned copy of the Passport sizePhoto (the Application will be rejected, ifyour entries are not correct).

    5. Please verify all the entered data carefullyand submit the Application Form. Oncesubmitted, the Application Form cannot beedited.

    6. Take the print out of the submittedApplication Form and the Chalan

    7. RC candidates from Thrissur Diocese canselect Seat Reservation as RC THRISSURDIOCESE for the purpose of CommunityQuota and should get it certified from theconcerned Parish Priest in the prescribedspace of the Application Form forconsidering under the Community Quota.Community Quota has no other separateform.

    8. Management Quota Forms are availableat the College Office.

    9. Submit the Application Form along withthe self attested copies of SSLC Mark List,HSE Mark List (both sides), Caste Certificatesfor Reservation Categories, other relevantCertificates for eligible weightage of marks(NSS, NCC, PH, Sports, Ex-Servicemen, etc.),Chalan and Fee (Rs. 150/- for GeneralCandidates and Rs. 100/- for SC/ST

  • candidates) to the College Office on orbefore the last date of the submission ofthe Application Form (9.30 am to 4.30 pmon all working days).

    10. One can also send the Application Formalong with the above mentioned docu-ments with a DD for the above saidamount to the College Office in the fol-lowing address The Principal, St. ThomasCollege (Autonomous), Thrissur - 680 001".Please write Application for UGProgramme 2015 on the top of the cover.The Application Form should reach theCollege Office either as Registered Postor as Speed Post on or before the last dateof the submission.

    11. The last date for the receipt of the Appli-cation Form will be 15 days from the dec-laration of the result of the Higher Sec-ondary Examinations of the Kerala State.

    The list of the selected candidates will be pub-lished according to the rules of the Universitysubject to the terms and conditions put bythe Government. Candidates will have to

    remit the fees stipulated by the University andthe Government for Aided and the Self-Financ-ing Programmes.

    The following documents are to be producedat the time of Admission:

    1. The Original Mark lists of SSLC (For verifi-cation), HSE/Equivalent Certificate andother relevant Documents (Eligibility Cer-tificate from other State / University,Caste Certificate for Reservation, IncomeCertificate for Fee Concession, NCC, NSS,PH, Sports, Ex- Servicemen, etc.)

    2. TC from the former Institution

    3. Conduct Certificate within 6 months

    4. 3 Passport size Photos

    5. Tuition fees and other fees mentioned inthe intimation letter by email or post

    NB Please take the sufficient number of

    photocopies of the Certificates and keepthem for further use if any, before submittingthe Originals to the College.

    The submitted Certificates will be returnedonly after the completion of theProgramme or at the time of issuing the TC.

    FEES CONCESSIONS AND STIPENDSStudents of Scheduled Castes / Tribes or other Backward Communities are eligible for feeconcession under various schemes of the Government. Those eligible for fee concessionmust produce the Community/Income certificate of the parents from the Village Officerat the time of Admission. If the student discontinues studies he/she shall refund the Schol-arship or Concession amount received, before obtaining the Certificates.

  • BONUS MARKSApplicants eligible for Bonus Marks attach copies ofrelevant certificates.

    (1) EX-SERVICEMEN: For Degree Programmes, tick inthe box only if the applicant is son/daughter of a(i) Jawan or Ex-Serviceman or (ii) BSF Personal Killedor disabled in action, and for Post GraduateProgrammes, if the applicant is son/daughter ofa Service Personal awarded with any of the VirChakra Series, or Killed in Action.

    (2) DIFFERENTIALLY ABLED: For Degree & Post Gradu-ate Programmes, if the applicant is physicallyhandicapped, tick in the box and attach copyof the relevant certificate issued by the MedicalBoard specifying the amount of handicap.

    (3) NCC: If the applicant has obtained 75% atten-dance in NCC in the institution last attended tick

    in the box. For Degree Course, if the appli-cant holds any certificate (A,B,C) in NCC, at-tach a copy of the same.

    (4) NSS: if the applicant has put in 240 hrs of Na-tional Service Scheme work in the institutionlast attended, tick in the box.

    (5) SPORTS/GAMES: For Degree Programmes, ifthe applicant has represented in sports &games at the State, National and Interna-tional level tick in the box. For Post GraduateProgrammes, if the applicant was a memberof any University Team or Winner in any indi-vidual item at the University Meet, tick in thebox.

    (6) SOCIAL SERVICE: For Post GraduateProgrammes, if the applicant has successfullycompleted Compulsory Social Service schemeof the Calicut University, tick in the box.

    The marks of Electronics/Physics/Math-ematics will be added as the casemay be to the Part III marks of qualify-ing examination. If there than one ofthe subjects had been offered at the+2 level, the subject with the highestmarks will added. An additionalweightage of 25 marks will added forthose who have studied Electronics.

    Total marks obtained for part III + thetotal marks obtained forMathematics in the case of Sciencegroup students with Mathematics asone of the Subject. Total marksobtained for Computer Science inthe case of other combinationwithout Mathematics as one of thesubject.

    B.B.A.

    Candidates who have passed (eligible forhigher studies) the HSE of the Kerala StateBoard of Higher Secondary Examination orany other examination recognized asequivalent examination thereto, with notless than 50% is eligible for admissions. Aconcession of 3 GPV will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidatesneed get only a pass. (U.O. No. GAI/J2/2907/2003 dated 23.07.2004, 28.02.2008)

    Total marks + 25 marks subject tomaximum of 50 marks plus two orequivalent examination under Com-merce stream Management of PlusTwo or equivalent examination canbe considered as commerce subjectfor indexing.

    Total marks + 25 markssubject to maximum of50 marks plus two orequivalent examina-tion under Commercestream Managementof Plus Two or equiva-lent examination canbe considered as com-merce subject for index-ing.
