Welcome to Sotogrande,

It is an honour for us all to celebrate The World Championship RC44 at home for the first time. All of our staff are on hand to give you an exclusive experience, where each member of the different teams can find a reason to return. Take advantage of our spectacular climate and enjoy a round of golf, a polo match, or just relax on one of our many beaches and experience the different cultures that have settled here over centuries.

Sotogrande is uniquely situated between two continents, Europe and Afri-ca allowing for the possibility of holding a very compelling race. With the constant changing winds technique and teamwork are essential, and of course not forgetting the “after sail” received from a warm Spanish perspec-tive. Sotogrande’s neighbour, Marbella, located in the middle of the famous Costa del Sol, is one of the greatest and most world renowned tourist desti-nations internationally.

Puerto Sotogrande

Puerto Sotogrande is one of the best and most exclusive Ports on the Mediterra-nean Sea, with incredible sailing conditions all year long, located at the luxury resort of Sotogrande, within the city of San Roque.

The city of San Roque is set within the Straits of Gibraltar, next to the mythical Pillars of Hercules, in the southern most point on the Iberian Peninsula. It is a crossroads where diverse cultures have intermingled.

Founded in 1962 by the American Joseph McMicking, Sotogrande is well-com-municated, with high quality infrastructure and a warm climate all year round. Famous for its golf courses and polo fields, it has become an exceptional placeto live or to just spend some time enjoying its many charms. Historical world spor-ting events have been held in Sotogrande at the impressive Valderrama golf course including The Ryder Cup ‘97, Volvo Masters (1986-1996 and 2002- 2008) and American Express World Championship (1999 and 2000).

Likewise, since 1971 the well-known Sotogrande World Polo Cup is held here and it is the only club that holds two International Polo Circuit tournaments annually.

Every convenience imaginable can be found on it’s more than 2,000 hectares: wide avenues, a leisure harbor, two beach clubs, the best hotels, and a colorful marina.

Scattered around are many restaurants, an international school, shops and banks to name but a few, all of which reflect Sotogrande´s Cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Sotogrande possesses excellent travel connections, being only an hour away from Malaga International Airport along the Costa del Sol motorway. Jerez Airport is also conveniently located, at one hour´s drive along the A-381 dual carriage way. Sotogrande is also just a 15 minute drive from Gibraltar Airport along CA-34 dual carriage way with direct flights to the United Kingdom.

There is also a sea port in Algeciras, just ten minutes away, with regular ferries and fast ferries / catamarans to the Spanish city of Ceuta and the Moroccan.

We recommend Malaga International Airport. Please let us know if you are coming by private jet, so we can make special arrangements. Please contact Martina for further information.
