“An Environment Where We Can All Grow Together”
November 2, 2012
Dear Woodview Parents and Guardians,
The week of October 22nd we celebrated Red Ribbon week. It was a huge success! The posters on display
in the front hallway represent our promise to lead healthy lifestyles. Each classroom door was decorated
to show our commitment to making good choices. What creative doors! On Thursday, Our Fine Arts
Committee hosted Mr. Loyd Bachrach. Mr. Bachrach discussed building self-esteem, bullying issues, and
disability awareness. Thanks to Mrs. Marks, our social worker, for organizing the week’s events.
A special reminder to all parents using our drop off circle, it is important that you remain in your vehicle at
all times. Our staff does their best to keep the traffic moving while keeping our students safe. If you need
to get out of your car, we ask that you park in our parking lot. We thank everyone for their patience and
appreciate your cooperation. It is illegal to use cell phones in a school zone. Help us keep our kids safe by
giving full attention to your driving in our school zone.
As the weather turns colder, we would like to remind families that proper dress is important. Recess can
be a fun part of the day, but coats and gloves may soon be necessary.
I enjoyed seeing so many families at the Harvest Moon Festival. Great job PTO for organizing such a fun
Fall event. This is just one of the many PTO sponsored events that we hope to see you at this year.
Sincerely,
Cathy Santelle

NEWS FROM THE PTO
PTO MEETIG
Our next PTO Meeting will be held in the Woodview Staff Lounge on:
Tuesday, ovember 13th
7:00 p.m.
This meeting will likely be short and sweet—and the last one before the new year!
Please mark your calendar and plan on joining us. We have been thrilled with the number of parents that have been joining us every month. It’s a great way to get involved in your child’s
school and meet new people!
The Mitten Tree is up in the Media Center!
The mitten tree is an annual effort to help woodview families in need. If
you were hoping to spread Holiday Cheer to a family in need, please stop by
and grab a mitten! You can also send a note with your child as to how many
mittens they should bring home and we will assist them!
Any questions, please contact Megan Wright: [email protected] or
(847)757-7842, or Pam Marks at [email protected]
• Each and every family who participated in and/or attended the Harvest Moon Festival! This event raised more than $3000 for Woodview School! • The many, many volunteers who helped make the Harvest Moon Festival a success, from the planning stages through clean-up the night of the event; including (but probably not limited to) Brandi Kornit, Krista Bean, Melanie Guenther, Monica

Garcia, Mary Klees, Sandi Hornung, Traci Parker, Jacqui Ramsey, Michelle Finley, Chad Finley, Virginia Fitzgerald,
Evelyn Guzman-Corripio, Christine McGaughy, Dave McGaughy, Emma Guenther, Taylor Ford, icholas Bean, Karen
Holtman, Sherry Weber, Katherine Mendoza, icole Siek, Kris Young, Theresa Bloede, Antoinette Mussay, Stacy Jantz,
Sandra McPherson, Jessica Carrier, Corinne Hedloff, Ben Heidloff, Ben Parker, Diana Spicer, Sara Belskis, Sandy Pogue,
Randi Herkey, Michelle Gehrke, Marianne Flagg, and Bob Boness • Tony Primack, Tom Bean, and Billy Kornit, the Super Dads who built the Fun House in the art room! • Dan eilson, the DJ who helped turn the gym into a dance party for Woodview's kids. • Evelyn Corripio, a talented artist whose creativity and skills made the face painting station a big success. • The Woodview teachers who attended the Harvest Moon Festival--you were noticed and you brought many smiles to your students' faces! • All volunteers who jumped in to help when needed, filling in where necessary. • All volunteers who stayed late, unasked, to help clean up. • Mrs. Santelle, for her support and guidance and for her presence throughout the evening and through a late clean-up session, at the Harvest Moon Festival. • The many families who donated baked goods for the Harvest Moon Festival Cake Walk. • Rachelle Ryan, Woodview parent and owner of Pazazz, a Grayslake gift shop near Center & Atkinson, for supplying the
balloons for the Multipurpose Room and school entryway. • Mr. ick, Woodview's custodian, for his help with the setup of the event and his help rearranging furniture in the art room. • icole Garcia, GCHS student, who volunteered for many hours, earning community service hours for National Honor Society. • Bob Garcia, who went above and beyond helping to clean up in the art room following removal of the Fun House. • Miss Heinz, for the use of her classroom, and her willingness to allow us to transform it into the Fun House. • Each and every person who helped make the Harvest Moon Festival the success that it was! If we have omitted your name, it is not because your help went unnoticed; it is because we found ourselves in the fortunate position of having a huge number of volunteers, and it was difficult to remember and track everyone, especially those kind volunteers who pitched in
unexpectedly and at a moment's notice! Thank you, one and all!
