Principal: Cathy Santelle Woodview School News 340 Alleghany Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 847-223-3668 “An Environment Where We Can All Grow Together” February 10, 2012 Dear Parents and Guardians, We are looking forward to conferences the week of February 13-16th with the focus being on student involvement with their parents and teachers. We will be discussing your child’s progress and the goals and improvement that are being made since we last met in October. This conference is a time for your child to take the lead sharing evidence of their learning. It is our goal to get 100% of the Woodview parents attending conferences. If you have not already made a conference time with your child’s teacher, please do so immediately. This is an essential component to student learning and completing the partnership between the home/school relationship. A reminder that Thursday, February 16th will be a ½ day (11:00 dismissal; afternoon kindergarten attends that day in the morning) and that there will be no student attendance on Friday, February 17th and no student attendance on Monday, February 20th because of Presidents’ Day. I hope all of the families are able to enjoy that nice, long weekend. A special thank you to all volunteers and performers for a successful Spaghetti Dinner/Lip Sync show last Friday night. It was an exciting evening where the students, parents, and teachers all came together to show off their talents and raise money for our school. We appreciate the dedication of our PTO and the numerous families that donated their time, energy and desserts. This is a reminder to parents who pick up their children. All cars need to pull to the front of the building. After picking up your children, please proceed directly out of the lot. We are seeing parked/sitting cars in the pickup area, which is preventing traffic from flowing smoothly and causing a backup on Alleghany Road. In addition, please do not park close to the parking lot exit. It is causing drivers’ view to be obstructed when exiting onto Alleghany. We appreciate your attention to this important safety concern. I look forward to seeing you during conference week. Sincerely, Cathy Santelle Principal

Woodview will be having a Dine and Share at Mitch’s on March 20th, with all proceeds bene-

fiting the PE Equipment Fund.

Students at Woodview welcomed one of their own, US Army Captain Kellan Sams, while he was visiting his family in Grayslake following his Iraq and Kuwait deployment. Captain Sams spent some time during his visit talking with teachers and students. Mrs. Miller was Captain Sams’ 3rd grade teacher. “It's hard to believe that Captain Kellan Sams is the same 8 year old student that I taught during my first year of teaching.” Mrs. Miller told the Woody Review. “I can still remember how excited he was to learn each day, how hard he always tried, and how funny and entertaining Kellan was!"

Our thanks to Captain Sams!

A VERY SPECIAL VISITOR!

Our 2011-2012 Market Day grocery

fundraising program is underway!

Watch for a new flyer to come home

soon!

Clip & save Tyson Project A+ labels.

Turn in the labels to school. Your

school redeems them for cash. Each

label is worth $.26.

Here is another way to earn money for

Woodview. Simply clip the Box Tops

from your favorite General Mills

products and send them to school with

your child!

Chef Tony says, “Brrrr,

soups and other hot meals

from Market Day are sure

to warm you through and

through this winter. Check

out the new flyer!”

Did you know that Woodview

collects Campbell’s soup labels? The

labels are worth points and must have

the UPC code in order to be used. The

points can be redeemed for books, gym

equipment, and other items for our

school. Each teacher has a box in the

classroom to collect labels and box tops!
