Fishing Success at WildcatSpring, summer and fall are the best times to visitthe Northwoods of Wisconsin for a fishingvacation. Why? Because the Boulder Junctionarea is the Musky Capital of the World. And whywould you stay at the Wildcat Lodge? Becauseour three lakes, Big and Little Kitten and WildcatLake are all Class A Musky waters.

This last season Lisa Dziedzina stayed at theWildcat Lodge. Her and her father Don Dziedzinafished Big and Little Kitten Lakes as well asWildcat Lake. In these photos you'll see that Lisaand Don did very well fishing our lakes. Actuallythey had most of their luck right in front our ourcabins.

The crappies they caught were from 10 to 13inches long. The bite was good using minnowson a light jig. Don likes using a 4 pound testfluorocarbon leader and feels that it helps thecatch. These crappies that you see here were all caught on Big and Little Kitten Lakes.

On one day, shortly after they launched the boat, Don decided to throw a Storm Kickin' Minnow. It's a small perch shaped/colored plastic bait that's only about 8 inches long. Don had a follow but the muskie turned away at the boat. Fishing near a point that had shallow water dropping to about 10 feet, Don decided to return to the spot about 5 minutes later and withing two cranks after making a cast near where the muskie was seen, it was FISH ON!.

Don netted a 41 inch muskie. What a great way to start the day.

But the story gets better.

The big story for their weekat Wildcat was Lisa's trophycatch.

Lisa and her Dad werefishing for crappies and gotquite a few about 200 yearsoff shore, right in front of theWildcat Lodge on Big KittenLake.

“I don't know what this is...”Lisa said, “But it surely is nota crappie. It's too big.”

Yes it was. In 20 feet ofwater, Lisa brought in a 28inch, 7 pound 5 ouncewalleye. What a beauty.

It was one of the mostmemorable trips to theWildcat Lodge for Don andLisa. It's always fun to fishhere and our lakes canprovide you with a once in alifetime catch.
