MKE’s ISO9001:2008 Quality Accreditation is renewed for a further three years.
Earlier in the year, MKE was visited by the British Standards Institute to
conduct a thorough review of the Quality Management System which is
compliant to the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standard. This review takes place
every five years, encompassing every aspect of the system to ensure the
accreditation can be renewed.
Operations Manager, Shaun Stickings commented: “The renewal of MKE’s
ISO9001 is fantastic news. During uncertain economic times like these,
quality can often be overlooked as a result of cost saving short cuts,
however the renewal demonstrates MKE’s continuing & unwavering
commitment to the highest quality

acquisition of Giesler’s assets and personnel represents another
significant investment in the expansion of MKE Engineering
Group, we are pleased to welcome the expertise into the MKE
family. This development further increases our ability to offer the

MKE recognised by EBP Kent
MKE has published a new brochure focusing on the ways in
which our services can assist customers in the buildings
services sector.
Energy savings are of critical importance in these austere times
and MKE can provide cost saving solutions, whether it’s a
variable speed drive to control the flow of a pump or one of the
new IE2 & IE3 efficient electric motors designed to run plant
more effectively.
With so many young people in the UK finding
employment difficult to come by, MKE has
been recognised for its contribution to
supporting the local youth population through
its work experience programme.
Over the summer holidays, two young men
gained valuable insight into the world of work
and that of Electrical Engineering in particular.
This support extended to the offer of an
apprenticeship to one of the youngsters.
MKE continues to be committed to investment
in staff, especially in young people with 5 new
apprentices taken on in the past 12 months.
These are the engineers of tomorrow and
represent the future of MKE.
We are always looking to recruit the best of
talent in the industry, if you feel you could
contribute to our Company, why not send a CV
to us at: [email protected]

Partner focus - ABB
www.mke.co.uk
In 1988 ASEA – one of Sweden’s oldest electrical engineering companies – merged with Brown Boveri & Cie (BBC) – one of Switzerland’s longest established engineering conglomerates. The venture created ABB and brought together a diverse range of technologies that had been shaping the world since 1883. Between them, the two companies had invented the steam turbine, turbochargers, the gas turbine, HVDC, gearless motors drives, gas-insulated
switchgear, the industrial robot, variable-speed drives and most recently, extended operator workstations. ABB now stands as a global leader in power and automation technologies. MKE’s relationship with ABB stems from two areas of our business – electric motors & variable speed drives, the benefits of which are relayed to customers through our participation in the ABB Motor Service Partners and ABB Drives Alliance networks. As a member of these two networks, MKE is authorised to advise
upon & supply market leading ABB motors and variable-speed drives as well as act as a certified repair centre. Whether the requirement is installation or maintenance, retrofit or replacement, MKE is able to assist, supported by ABB’s range of leading edge, energy efficient products. Energy efficiency is of critical importance in the current economic climate, and ABB products lead the way in providing the latest IE2 energy efficient electric motors. Couple this with a variable speed drive and the reduced energy consumption and related cost savings can be considerable, between 20-50% compared to fixed speed, with payback often within 2 years. In 2011 alone, ABB drives were reported to save a record 310 megawatts hours of energy, equivalent to the yearly equivalent of 75 million households in the EU. Click on either of the logos below for further details of the two partnerships.
In May, the Rainham branch arranged a corporate fishing trip for
customers to enjoy.
The weather was typical for the time of year with rain & cold
winds doing their best to dampen spirits, however customers
from companies such as Unilever, Tilbury Containers and Sutton
& Surrey Water all chanced their fishing arms with mixed success!
The winning anglers show off their catches and MKE trophies.
Continuing MKE’s long running support of Demelza Children's’
Hospice, a team was entered in the annual Charity Football
Tournament organised by Carousel Logistics.
Despite the advancing average age of the squad and the fact
the team had never played together, MKE FC acquitted itself
remarkably well, winning two out of five matches in a group
that included the eventual Champions.
With the team back in training, MKE FC plan to return next
year - leaner , fitter and ready to challenge for glory!
