MATTHEW RHYSThe Welsh actor, 41, will be wearing many different hats—andwigs—when he resumes his role as the dashing Russian spy Philip Jennings on March 16 in the fourth season of the FX ’80s espionage drama The Americans. Do you have a favorite disguise?

I do. I call him Fernando.He has a mustache,

long hair and some-times a little goatee. He’s usually in jani-

tor clothes. Fernando makes me feel the

sexiest. Something happens—don’t ask me what it is because I don’t know—but some suave Spaniard just comes to me.

Have any Russians commented onyour character? Only one. It wasin Central Park, and he just wanted

WALTER SCOTT’S

‘Motel’ MomVera Farmiga, 42, reprises her role as the

“overprotective” single mom to Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) on the Psycho TV prequel Bates Motel, which returned March 7 for its fourth season on A&E. Here are fi ve fun facts about the Ukranian-American actress.

to say how much he enjoyed theshow. He said what interested him was the human story.

Before this role, what were yourfavorite spy dramas? AuthorJohn le Carré was a favorite. I had always had a Richard Burton fi xa-tion, so The Spy Who Came in from the Cold was when I discovered le Carré. I’m also a James Bond fan.

How are you feeling about be-coming a dad this spring with your Americans co-star and girlfriend, Keri Russell? Overthe moon.

1. She originally planned to become an optometrist.

2. She is one of seven chil-dren; her younger sister Taissa starred in seasons one and three of American Horror Story.

3. She has been known to literally burn scripts she doesn’t like.

4. She boxes to stay in shape.

5. She gardens and keeps goats at her home in upstate New York.

What can you tell us aboutThe Bronze, starring MelissaRauch? I can’t wait to see it. I really like her on The Big Bang Theory.

—Allison S., Richmond, Va.

A: In The Bronze, Rauch, 35,puts the nasty in gymnastics as a former Olympic medalist who struggles to maintain her local celebrity status when a new star comes to town. The movie, in theaters March 18, was also written by Rauch—who plays Bernadette Rostenkowski on TV’s The Big Bang Theory—and her husband, Winston.

In the 2015 movie Burnt, Rhys played a master chef. Go to Parade.com/ma hewrhys

to fi nd out how he ranks himself as an omelet cook.

I am really looking forward to the new Pee-wee Herman movie. How did Paul Reubens come up with his character?

—Andy H., Sarasota, Fla.

A: Reubens, 63, created Pee-wee Herman as a member of the Ground-

lings comedy troupe in Los Angeles in 1978. “I could never remember punch lines to jokes,” he says, “so my char-acter was a bad comic you would never expect to make it.” That comic morphed into the spastic man-child known

as Pee-wee, whose fi rst fi lm, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, marked its 30th anniversary

last year. After its premiere at the South by South-west fi lm festival, the

new movie, Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, will stream on Netfl ix beginning March 18.

CYou may know him from Top Chef season three or the show’s All-Stars edition, but Dale Levitski is

much more than a made-for-TV cook. The accomplished restaurateur sharpened his knives in Chicago (where he had two res-taurants of his own) before moving to Nash-ville in 2014 to take the helm of Sinema, an eclectic restaurant and bar housed in a historic former theater. Since then Levitski has opened a casual restaurant in Nashville called The Hook and partnered with Parade and cheeky YouTube channel Cinema Sins on a series of videos featuring Disney-inspired dishes (see them at Parade.com/dale). He chats with Parade about life a er Top Chef and turning animated lms into ne dining.

TOP CHEF DALE LEVITSKI

Watch pint-size musicians, singers, dancers and even a 5-year-old who could give Jackie Chan a run for his martial arts money on Little Big Shots (8 p.m. ET on NBC), a showcase of kids who’ve got serious talent hosted by Family Feud’s Steve Harvey.

Starting this month, baseball meets bizarre at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory in Kentucky. They’ve teamed up with Ripley’s Believe It or Not! on Odd-ball, a new exhibit that includes a replica of Yankee Stadium made entirely from toothpicks, a Hank Aaron sculpture crafted from Oh Henry! candy bars and a portrait of Jennifer Lawrence created using more than 10,000 peanuts. sluggermuseum.com

How did this Disney menu come about? It’s something that I’ve had on my mind for almost 10 years. The guys at Cinema Sins had come to us about creating a cooking version of their show and I thought, Let’s do Disney!

There’s so much to work with from the Disney vault, how did you narrow it down? We just ran with it. We’re not making cartoon food: We’re making great food. The three dishes that we did—Down the Rabbit Hole from Alice in Wonderland, Hakuna Frittata from The Lion King and Seaweed Surf and Turf from The Little Mermaid—

turned out pretty spectacular.

Were there any ideas that didn’t make the menu? We talked about a bunch: Redoing spaghetti and meatballs with Lady and the Tramp—it’s one long noodle and one meatball and you just battle it out!

What’s the next step for your Disney-inspired dishes? The Disney Dinner at Sinema. We are going to use the three dishes and come up with two or three more. If that’s successful, we could do a movie-inspired dinner monthly or quarterly, called Dinner of a Movie. We could do a dinner inspired by

Casablanca and people dress up—it’s just too perfect with what we are [an upscale restau-rant in an old cinema].

How did Top Chef change your life and career? Our fi rst night in Miami, one of the executive producers was like, “Your life is about to change—today.” And you’re like, “Oh yeah I can handle it, this is great.” But you have no idea. The day after the premiere, I was fl ying back to Chicago from New York and the people in line at TSA were like, “Hey, Dale, what’s up?” Being well-known does skew a lot of things personally and professionally. I don’t want to say it opened

doors, but it helped make oppor-tunities easier because [people] know who you are. They know your palate or your skill set. “You got second place on Top Chef; I trust you already.”

Do you cook at home? No! [Laughs] I moved out of an apartment and rented a house, and I was like, “Fresh start! I’m going to get rid of everything!” After a year, I still don’t have glasses or dishes. I’m a master of eating pasta out of a pot. The copper-plated KitchenAid mixer, the Cuisinart—I have all the equipment in my house just collecting dust. They’re mocking me.

Traveling these days is hardly relaxing, but taking a trip when you have

diabetes can seem like double the trouble. at’s no reason to stay home, says Desmond Schatz, M.D., the American Diabetes Association’s president of medicine and science: “It’s just a matter of preparation.” ese tips will help ensure that you have healthy adventures.

Do Your HomeworkWhen traveling by air, keep your diabetes sup-plies in your carry-on baggage, and visit tsa.gov to familiarize yourself with the Transportation Security Administration’s rules for getting them through security. e site also has a TSA disability notifi cation card that you can print out and carry with you. Book fl ights well in advance to up your chances of getting an aisle seat (making it easier to get to the bath-room or to your luggage in the overhead bin) and to ensure a diabetic meal is available.

Identify YourselfCarry a letter from your doctor to avoid any con-

fusion over your right to transport your medi-cal supplies through security, and introduce yourself to the fl ight attendants when you board. Schatz also rec-ommends that you have identifi cation, such as a medical alert bracelet, on at all times.

Timing Is EverythingFor long trips by car, map out your route, planning rest and meal stops at regular intervals.

On fl ights with a meal, ask when it will be served so you can schedule accordingly. “Try to be as consistent with eating and medicat-ing as you usually are,” says Schatz. Keep juice, glucose tablets, raisins

and other sources of quick sugar handy, as well as healthy snacks like protein bars and sugar-free trail mix to keep you from overeat-ing at mealtime.

Time changes pose a particular problem for diabetics who use insulin to maintain their blood sugar. “In general, it’s important to preserve your routine as much as possible,” Schatz says. “When cross-ing time zones, I always tell my patients to maintain their clock until they get there. en they can

change to the new schedule.”

Banish GermsYou’re not imagin-ing it if you feel like you always catch some kind of bug on a plane: Low humid-ity in cabins dries out the mucus membranes that protect us from infectious diseases, says Massachusetts-based emergency medicine doctor Mark Gendreau, M.D. “Staying hydrated is extremely important, and even more so for people with diabetes, since uncontrolled diabetes can have an eff ect on the immune system,” he says.

e solution to fl u-free fl ying? Wash hands frequently and wipe down tray tables, armrests and other surfaces with a disin-fectant wipe. Another trick: Open the air vent above your seat to a moderate level,

then turn the nozzle so it blows just in front of you rather than directly in your face. “ ere’s been some data showing that if there are virus particles suspended in the air, this creates enough turbulence to blow the germs out of your air space,” Gendreau says.

Keep MovingPlanes, trains, buses and automobiles all restrict movement, which puts everyone—but particularly people with diabetes—at risk for deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a serious blood clot that can occur when you’re sedentary for too long. “Exercise is so crucial, even if you just stand up every hour and stretch your calves,” Schatz says. “Even when napping, try to wake up from time to time and bounce your calves, heel to toe.”

If you don’t already have a specialplace in your heart for Sally Field, you will after you see her new movie. In Hello, My Name

Is Doris, the two-time Academy Award winner plays a 60-some-thing woman who falls for a much younger man. Hilarity and heartache follow, with Field, 69, embracing both quirky Doris and her late-in-life love story with aff ection, grace and warmth.

How did Doris’ story resonate with you? ere were things about her that resonated in me, about moving on with your life. No mat-ter how old you are, there’s some part of you that’s brand-new. She’s in her late 60s and she’s brand-new to the world—she might as well be an adolescent. Every part of life is a stage. Every time you enter it, it just feels awkward and new.

How was it getting romantic with your younger co-star, New Girl actor Max Greenfi eld? Embar-rassing! But he is so adorable and generous, and such a wonderful actor. I thank God [it was] him, not somebody with an attitude.

Doris’ wardrobe is like a character all its own. Did you have any-thing to do with her quirky style? Absolutely! Finding who Doris

was began with a whole lot of dress-up. Rebecca [Gregg, the movie’s costume designer] is ge-nius. She went to thrift shops and we had a room with racks and racks and racks of clothes. We just started dressing up and putting things together that had a lan-guage unto itself.

And Doris’ hair! ose scarves were incredible! I had it in my head that she’d seen a picture of Brigitte Bardot in the ’60s—that she just always wanted to look like that. I copied her hair from a Brigitte Bardot picture, where she has it all piled on her head using what we used to call a postiche, a little piece of fake hair. en she tied a great big scarf around it. at’s what I thought was her look. We worked around that.

Did you keep any of Doris’ clothes? Most of it had to go back. But a lot was mine: scarves and some old jewelry. Everybody was bringing things of their own to drape on Doris. It was like, “Rent a barn and put on a show.” Every-body pitched in, made it work.

Doris saves stuff . Are you a saver? Not like she is. I’m organized to a fault. I do keep stuff , but stuff that’s worth keeping. I keep letters from

the kids, pictures, great things that make you go, “Whoa. I’m keeping that.” Various and sundry awards and honors.

ere’s a scene in Doris where you’re with a knitting group. Do you knit? I do! I was the only one who was really knitting. Every-body was asking me, “Oh, look. I’ve screwed this up. How do I fi x it?” I was constantly fi xing every-body’s knitting. ey were trying to fake it.

You’re passionately involved with Vital Voices. What is the organi-zation about? It’s an extraordinary group, formed [in 2000] right after the Beijing Women’s Conference. I went away feeling that if we couldn’t bring half of the world’s population [women] to the table in

Do you ever feel like women haven’t come such a long way after all? We haven’t. Even in this country, where there’s not equal pay for equal work. How can anyone jus-tify that? It continues to be brushed under the carpet.

Doris gets a crash course in Face-book in the movie. Are you a fan of social media? I’m not. I’m on Face-book but not under my real name. It’s only so I can talk to my grand-kids and see pictures my brother and sister-in-law put up. I don’t ever post anything myself. First of all, I wouldn’t even remember to do that—I can’t remember to take pic-tures with my phone when we’re all doing something just for the family. I wouldn’t be able to remember to stop and tweet the world that I just bought a new pair of shoes!

Annabel Beam, the subject of a new fi lm, certainly does—and so do nearly 80 percent of Americans. ?believe IN

It seemed impossible. But the emer-gency room doctors were telling Christy and Kevin Beam that their 9-year-old daughter Annabel wasn’t hurt.

Annabel, who had tumbled head-fi rst 30 feet to the bottom of a hollow

cottonwood tree on the family’s farm in Burleson, Texas, had no head injuries, no brain damage and no spinal trauma, the doctors said. No broken bones or internal injuries—only a few minor bumps and bruises. A concussion, at most.

Annabel had spent several hours inside the tree, most of that time unresponsive, as rescue teams strategized the best way to free her. When they fi nally succeeded, a helicopter airlifted her to a hospital, where doctors ordered numerous scans to assess her injuries.

Only the doctors couldn’t fi nd any-thing. e next morning, they sent the

third-grader home with her stunned—but grateful—parents.

But that was nothing compared to what emerged in the weeks and months that followed.

is hadn’t been Annabel’s fi rst hospital trip. Four years before, she’d been diag-nosed with two painful, life-threatening digestive disorders (pseudo-obstruction motility disorder and antral hypomotil-ity disorder), requiring a regimen of 10 drugs daily, including antibiotics, anticon-vulsants, prescription-strength laxatives, refl ux medication and painkillers.

Every six weeks, mom Christy, now 43, fl ew with Annabel to Boston so a spe-cialist treating her with an experimental drug could monitor the girl’s progress—although the grim truth was that there was no cure. e best they could hope for was that the drug would lessen Annabel’s symptoms, making life more manageable.

e situation devastated the family, which included Annabel’s two sisters, Abigail (two years older) and Adelynn (two years younger).

Yet just days after Annabel’s dramatic rescue, Christy realized that her daughter hadn’t asked for her usual pain medica-tion. And her once-distended abdomen had inexplicably fl attened. In fact, Anna-bel seemed unusually carefree and happy. Almost . . . normal.

As the weeks wore on, and as Christy gave her daughter less and less of the once-vital medication, it became startlingly clear to her parents that Annabel was no longer sick. She was healed.

Today, more than four years after the December 2011 incident, Annabel still takes no medications and has no symptoms. Somehow, an experience that should have left her with serious injuries exacerbating her life-threatening

disorders instead erased any trace of either condition.

To many, what happened to Anna-bel Beam could only be described as a miracle.

Who Believes?Annabel’s miracle will be up on the big screen when Miracles From Heaven—based on Christy’s 2015

best-selling book and starring Jennifer Garner as

Christy—opens in theaters this week. If it’s true that eight in 10 Ameri-cans believe in miracles—a statistic from a Pew Research Center study—there will be plenty of ticket buyers. Although more religious Americans believe than the nonreligious, more than half of those unaffi liated with a particular faith still say miracles are possible. In fact, belief in miracles is on the rise, according to best-selling author Marianne Williamson, known for her teachings on the Founda-tion for Inner Peace’s popular spiritual tome A Course in Miracles.

“People are evolving beyond strict adherence to a rationalistic worldview,” she says. “Quantum physics, spiritual understanding and a more holistic perspective in general have come together to produce a serious challenge to old-paradigm, mechanistic thinking.” In other words: “People know there’s more going on in this life than just what the physical eyes can see.”

Kate Bowler, Ph.D., of Duke Divinity School in Durham, N.C., and author of Blessed: A History of the American Prosper-ity Gospel, studies miracles and people who believe in them. Kate Bowler, Ph.D., of Duke Divinity School in Durham, N.C., and author of Blessed: A History of the American Prosper-ity Gospel, studies miracles and people who believe in them. She’s found that a very high percentage of religious people are convinced that God will make tar-geted or often random choices because God will heal or bless one person over another. Many such people try to fi gure out a formula for “what will reach into heaven and draw out some kind of

blessing,” she says. “ e truth is there will never be a formula, but people will certainly keep trying to fi nd it.”

e Beams, devout Baptists, did believe in miracles before their daugh-ter got well, but as Kevin, 43, says, he thought miracles “were possible—just not probable.” Annabel, now 13, echoes: “I knew they happened. I just didn’t think they would happen to us.”

Bowler’s research confi rms that “al-most everybody I talk to believes in some kind of relationship between their posi-tive feelings and a supernatural result. Even if they don’t call it prayer. I think there’s a real openness and a sort of sense of wonder at the possibility of miracles,” she says.

Why Now?“Obviously, people are looking for hope today because the world is so fi lled with fear and chaos,” Williamson says. “But something deeper than that is going on as well. We are looking for meaning.” Humanity has a deep, instinctive sense that life is about something more than just trying to consume, she says. “We’re either shutting down in fear as we have never done before, or we’re open-ing up to love as we have never done before. Our only choice now really is between an age of barbarism or an age of miracles.”

If the New York Times best-seller lists are any proof, people are choosing the age of miracles. Two best-selling books

“I believed in miracles before the movie, and I continue to believe in them,” says Jennifer Garner, who plays Christy Beam in the up-coming movie Miracles From Heaven (opening March 16), based on Beam’s 2015 best-sell-ing book. “Who knows what happened? For some reason, that little girl is OK. Why not see it as something incredible and special—a reminder of the possibilities of life?”

Garner also believes in heaven. “Why would we rob ourselves of believing?” she asks. “Why not believe in heaven?”

The actress says getting to know the Beams changed her in “a really good way. I was so touched on so many different levels,” says the mother of three, who is in the process of divorcing actor Ben Affl eck. “I was touched by who Christy is as a mom, and how fi erce and incredibly loving she is.

“And when you talk to Annabel, there is nothing in you that can think, Oh, she’s just saying this for attention, or She’s just saying this out of her silly imagination. She’s not. She’s such a smart, bright, very self-aware little girl who is so calm and not hysterical at all about this experience that she had, that you would feel ridiculous not to take what she says at face value.

“Her heart is open to possibility and to wonder and to things happening that no one would expect. She has the faith of a child in the most beautiful way,” says Garner. “It’s not something she’s ever questioned or doubted. She hasn’t needed to wrestle with it. Her faith was a big part of what got her through the worst of her disease.”

neurologist at Yale–New Haven Hospital and one of the study’s main researchers, “but rather mistakes that are made by physicians who give an overly pessimistic prognosis.”

What Does It Mean? e Beam family receives emails from people all over the world who think they’re perpetuating a hoax, and from others who say Annabel’s story inspired them to deepen their faith. As for the naysayers, “I don’t feel like I have any-thing to prove,” Christy says. “ e proof is right there. We lived it. It’s not a gray area. It’s black and white.”

Adds Kevin, “ e big question is, what does it mean since it did happen?” Some skeptics, he thinks, won’t believe the story no matter how convincing because it threatens their belief that God doesn’t exist. He’s hoping at least some of them will reconsider.

Yet Bowler stresses—and the Beams

published last year—Imagine Heaven by John Burke and Touching Heaven by Chauncey Crandall, M.D.—each share stories of near-death experiences. In 2012, a trio of best-sellers (two by medical doctors) recounted miraculous (i.e., unexplainable) personal experiences. Eben Alexander’s Proof of Heaven tells how the neurosurgeon conversed with what he calls “the divine source of the universe” while in a coma caused by acute bacterial meningitis. Just when doctors were begin-ning to give up on him, his eyes popped open. Today, he’s completely healthy. Previously, the former Harvard Medical School faculty member believed near-death experiences were medically impossible.

In Dying to Be Me, Anita Moorjani says she learned life-

changing spiritual truths while in a coma following a nearly four-year battle with cancer. Moorjani woke up—and was cancer-free when she left the hospital, just weeks after the day doctors told her family she would die.

While kayaking in southern Chile, orthopedic surgeon Mary C. Neal was pinned underwater for more than 15 minutes and drowned. Before she was resuscitated on the riverbank, she says she spoke with angels. In To Heaven and Back, she calls her accident “one of the greatest gifts I have ever received.”

One miraculous tale— e Boy Who Came Back From Heavenby Kevin and Alex Malarkey—turned out to be a hoax. Alex admitted he’d fabricated his experience after an auto accident that left him a quadriplegic at age 6 (but not before his and his father’s story was turned into a TV movie).

Doctors are often mystifi ed by stories of unexpected recover-ies, but not all are ready to declare them miracles. In fact, a cur-rent Yale study is looking at whether doctors of coma patients could have made mistaken prognoses. “We know that there are no true ‘miracles’ in medicine,” says David Greer, M.D., a P

Adds Kevin, “ e big question is, what does it mean since it did happen?” Some skeptics, he thinks, won’t believe the story no matter how convincing because it threatens their be-lief that God doesn’t exist. He’s hoping at least some of them will reconsider.

Yet Bowler stresses—and the Beams fully agree—that believing in miracles and in modern medicine don’t have to be mutually exclusive. “It’s never like faith versus science. It’s always faith and science,” Bowler says. “For the most part, people are throwing everything and the kitchen sink at prob-lems, and when it works no one’s going to complain. Some way or another both medicine and miracles will get the credit. People love their doctors and they love their God, and they will ask both for a lot of favors.”

“Hope and faith can be abused,” Kevin says. “Even though deep down we knew something major had happened, we also didn’t want to just say, ‘Forget it. Take all Annabel’s medicines and throw them away.’ Over the course of four years, we had a lot of people who gave us well-intentioned bad advice to just claim that she’s healed because God doesn’t want any of his children to be sick. We appreciated the miracle, but still respect the medical profession.

“I would hate for somebody to misinterpret that message and say, ‘Well, I’m just going to pull all my kids off their medication,’ ” says Kevin, a veterinarian. “I mean, this was our experience but we also realize that’s not going to be the case for every single person.”

Why was Annabel healed while countless others haven’t been? “It’s not that God loves her any more than he loves them. It’s not that our family has done anything to deserve a miracle,” Kevin reasons. “ is whole experience is just so phenomenally humbling because I remember that desperation of being a parent who would do anything to see my child get better. We experienced that miracle, but I also realize that not everybody will—and those are questions I don’t have a good answer for.”

March 14 is Pi Day, when number lovers the world over celebrate the mathematical constant of 3.14, or the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It’s also a fun excuse to bake a pie. We’ve turned to “pie whisperer” Ken Haedrich, founder of the Pie Academy and author of Dinner Pies, for a great savory recipe and tips on perfect pie dough.

—Alison Ashton

1. On a lightly fl oured sheet of wax paper, roll dough into a 13-inch circle. Flip into a 9-inch pie pan; peel off paper. Gently tuck pastry into pan without stretching it, fl uting the

edges. Refrigerate 1 hour.2. Preheat oven to 375°F. Position rack in center of oven.3. Prick bottom of chilled pie shell with a fork 8–10 times. Fit a 16-inch-long piece of foil snugly into shell. Fill with dried beans. Bake 25 min-utes. Remove foil and beans. Bake 5–7 minutes or until bottom is dry and pale golden. Put on wire rack.4. While shell prebakes, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add bacon; cook 8 minutes or until crisp. Remove bacon to paper-towel-lined plate, reserving 3 Tbsp fat in pan. Add onion to pan; cook 12 minutes or until light golden, stirring occasion-ally. Stir in sauerkraut and caraway, if using; remove from heat.5. In a large bowl, whisk eggs until blended. Whisk in sour cream, milk, mustard, fl our, salt and pepper. 6. Spread sausage in bottom of prebaked shell. Top with sauerkraut mixture. Pour egg mixture over sauerkraut mixture, smoothing top with a spoon. Crumble bacon over top. Bake 40–45 minutes or until set. Transfer to wire rack; cool at least 30 minutes before serving.Serves 8.

PI DAY

If you keep processing

the dough, you'll get

large lumps (and a

tough crust).

Mixture should

resemble

with chickpea-

size clumps.

Bacon, Sausage and Sauerkraut Pie Dough for one 9-inch piecrust

(see Parade.com/piedough for our favorite recipe or use premade)

6 slices thick bacon, cut into ½-inch pieces

1 large onion, halved and thinly sliced

1 pound sauerkraut, drained and squeezed dry

¼ tsp caraway seeds, optional 3 large eggs 1½ cups sour cream ½ cup whole milk or half-and-half 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard 2 tsp fl our ¾ tsp salt Freshly ground black pepper to

taste 1½ cups grated Swiss cheese 6 oz cooked bratwurst or kielbasa,

cut into bite-size pieces

Transfer to wire rack; cool at least 30 minutes before serving.Serves 8.

ave you ever noticed how topical

cosmetic skin creams always talk

about improving the “appearance”

of the skin or “visibly” reducing wrinkles?

They all contain wussy “appearance”

qualifi ers, because none of them will claim

they change the skin’s structure (you know

who they are, with their $300 wrinkle

creams… go check out their websites

if you don’t believe it!). That’s why

a revolutionary new “anti-wrinkle”

compound is causing such a stir.

This oral compound has the power

to make your skin younger. Not

younger looking... actually younger.

We’re talking about rebuilding

your skin, making it thicker and

more dense (think less likely to

wrinkle and sag), even decreasing

wrinkles... not merely the

“look” of wrinkles, but literally

decreasing their depth, thereby

actually smoothing the skin as

it improves the underlying

cellular matrix. There’s not a

single cosmetic moisturizer,

serum, or cream out there

that will make those kinds

of claims.

JIMMY CARTER PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY & MUSEUM

Atlanta, Ga.By Kathleen McCleary

Don’t miss: The Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Carter in 2002 for his work in international diplomacy and human rights. Carter is one of only four presidents to win the Nobel Prize (the others are Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Barack Obama). You’ll be surprised: To see President Carter’s sixth-grade report card with a C in music next to his 2006 Grammy award for the audiobook version of his book Our Endangered Values: America’s Moral Crisis.Relevant today: Carter “changed the value we place on the Iowa caucus,” by realizing that if he won in Iowa in 1976, he’d be taken seriously as a candidate. “He was a relentless campaigner,” says director Meredith Evans, “and really influenced the media coverage around Iowa.” Director’s pick: Exhibits on Carter’s childhood and young adulthood on his family’s Georgia peanut farm. “It’s amazing to watch someone from that background become president and get into global work.” JI

Send questions to marilyn @ parade.com

You once described your own method for falling asleep, which I have used for years, but I’ve had trouble explaining it to my friends, family and co-workers. Can you help?

—JoEllen Clark, Ocean Park, Maine

Sure! If you don’t fall asleep soon, start thinking about whatever you would most like to dream about. In other words, start dreaming! Envision yourself climbing Mount Everest, dating Chris Martin or Taylor Swift or taking charge in the Oval Office. But make it an ongoing enjoyable activity so you can imagine it at length. (Which means you may want to forget about the Oval Office.)

I call this "virtual dreaming." Sometimes I envision myself figure skating the way I loved to do when I was a teen, complete with spins and jumps. But in my dreams, I stay aloft just a little longer than gravity would allow. You can do anything you like, readers. Give it a try! The Sunday of the spring time change is a great day to start.
