It might have been a trip to Neverland complete with

our own Lost Boys...but it was Delta Cruise 2010

Delta Cruisers were: Judeez II, Grand Cru, Gently Down the Stream, Betty D.,Why Knot II, CKing Fun, September Song, Elsinor, Star Ship, Omega, Strange Trip,La Tortuga, River Dance, Rhiannon, Dancing Wolf and RV Feisty Lady.

Only one boat went agroundOnly one boat broke downOnly one male cruiser fell in the water before 10 am (alcohol or drugs not involved)Only one female cruiser fell in the water (alcohol or drugs not involved)...

Only one Sheriffs deputy hailed NVYC to be more considerate of small fishing boatsOnly one female cruiser collapsed and transported by ambulance to the hospital. Shes fine...Only one windy day.

Note: No names are mentioned since it was established by the cruisers before we left home thatwhat happens in the Delta, stays in the Delta. Thats the truth and Im sticking to it.

What a fast and busy year

this has been. At the Fri-day Night, September 17

Dirk Kruidenier, CommodoreBill Newton, Vice CommodoreKen Graham, Rear CommodoreSteve Vartan, TreasurerBob Weeks, Secretary

Augusts Delta Cruise, organized byBob and Nancy Weeks, started in Be-nicia with the Peddlers Fair. Thankyou to Mark Cordeiro for organizingdinner and dancing at Benicia YachtClub and hosting hors doeuvres anddrinks at his Benicia townhome.

The remainder of the Delta Cruisewas led by Bob Weeks and shipmateLarry Wolfe. See the front page for afew details and page 4 for photos.

August was an interestingmonth at the NVYC. OnAugust 20 our club was on

the last leg of the Delta Cruise

and we were expecting a smallcrowd on Friday Night eventhough Pittsburg YC had cruisedinto our docks. Surprisingly, ourdinner crew was slammed andsold 65 dinners and the bar wasequally busy. Dinners were allsold to members and guests; somePYC members did trickle into thebar later in the evening. Thisturned out to be one of our majorFridays to coincide with a cruiseout. Thank you to the eveningshosts Larry & Linda Sharp, SvenOja & Lori Cranston.

September is the opening offootball season for both collegeand the NFL. This is the year thatwe take on a new event at theNVYC to take advantage of ournew flat screen TVs and club fa-cilities. On Sunday, September 12,both of our Bay Area NFL teamsopen their seasons. The OaklandRaiders open against Tennessee at10 am and the 49ers kick offagainst Seattle at 1 pm.

    We have acquired a professional

popcorn machine and a commer-cial kosher hot dog maker. Thebar will be open. There is noth-ing better than watching a gamewith your friends.e-mail me so Ican get an idea of numbers. Seeyou there. ([email protected])

Boating has taken over as thepriority for August andSeptember so work at the

    clubhouse has slowed down. With

so much work at the club accom-plished this year its good just to getout on the water.

The Board approved the purchaseof a new gas barbecue to be in-stalled on the deck. This shouldspeed up prep time for the cooks.

Fleet Captain Bob Magoon hasthe cruise-out schedule well inhand. Please call him immediatelyif you wish to join the Marin YachtClub cruise-out September 10-12.

Our first Sunday Brunch on August 1 wasa great success. Seventy four membersand guests enjoyed the event catered by

Tyler & Becky Anderson. Great to see friends

who had not been at the club recently. DonaldBuresh & Sharon Phillips manned the bar withMimosas, Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers.Mary Parker decorated with fresh flowers. Itwas a lot of people to fit into our little club but itworked because the early birds moved out to thedeck when the sun peaked through the fog tomake room for new arrivals. Many have re-quested we repeat the brunch once a month.

Mark September 19 on your calendar for anothergreat Sunday Brunch. You will get an e-vite soyou can sign up for either a 9:00 - 9:15 slot or amid-morning 10:00 - 10:15 arrival. Menu:French toast, Fluffy egg scramble, Chicken Ap-ple Sausage, Roast Potatoes, Fresh Fruit, Coffee& Beverages from the bar. Guests of memberswelcome. Hope you see you at the club. -- Steve Vartan
