PRESIDENT’S PEN

Christmas is over for another year and I hope you all had a lovely time. With the start of a “New Year” I hope we are all full of enthusiasm to return to club with a plan for weight loss in 2016. I personally still think the 5/2 is the way to go! Beverly WW club invited Sheila and myself to their Christmas lunch and it was a very nice drive there. The ladies and the lunch were lovely and extremely well done for such a small club, they put on a great day. We both were given gifts. Mine was a beautiful clock and Sheilas was a set of lovely mugs which she said were just what she needed! THANK YOU LADIES we did enjoy ourselves. We had our final committee meeting for 2015 at the Bayswater tavern with Revely Gardiner, Ann and John Hamilton as invited guests. Thank you to Shirley for making the booking on behalf of the committee.

My first job when we re-open on the 18th January is to ring the country clubs to see if we can get a host for the 2016 forum. We all look forward to these get togethers for the weekend and I will keep you up-dated if this happens.

My thanks to Sue Harding for popping in to check the office and Tony who is always willing to fix the “glitches” on the computer. To the committee - I know we have had rough spots but I hope this year we can all work together and be happy as a team for a great future outcome. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL. AILEEN.

SWAN BASSENDEAN COMMUNITY WEIGHT LOSS GROUP

Happy New Year everyone. We ended 2015 with a lovely 3 course meal at the 7th Avenue Bar and Restaurant in Midland. It was an excellent meal and we had the function room to ourselves. We all had such a good time that we agreed to come back again this year for our Christmas Break up.

Colleen had the biggest weight lost over the Xmas break with 1.8 kgs and won $15 for her effort. But as a whole, we started 2016 on a bad note with a weight gain of over 19 kilos as a group. So we decided to start from scratch and make

The year of ME…

The first thing we did was to answer the following questions: - In 2016 I will …………………… to help me control my weight. Some of the responses were to cut my bread intake to one slice a day, to have 3 alcohol free days a week, to only eat ice-cream one day a week and to eat fish 3 times a week. In 2016 I will ……………………. to help me move more. Responses were to walk the dog every day, walk to the letterbox once a day, go swimming twice a week and to get up and walk around the room whilst the commercials are on TV. In 2016 I will ……………………… to help me relax more. Some suggestions were to find a new author to read, get a manicure, do yoga and eat breakfast outside listening to the birds. Everyone then wrote their own responses down and these were sealed in an envelope to be opened mid-year to see if we are on track. We also went home with the following poem curtesy of one of our members Sandy.

If You Want 2016 To Be Your Year,

Then Don’t Sit On the Couch and Wait for It. Go Out and Make a Change. Smile More Be Excited. Do New Things Clean Your Home Throw Away What You’ve Been Cluttering Unfollow Negative People On Social Media. Go to Bed Early. Wake Up Early. Be Fierce. Don’t Gossip. Show More Gratitude. Do Things That Challenge You

BE BRAVE AND MAKE THAT CHANGE

Good luck with your weight loss journey in 2016 Swan Bassendean committee

GREENWOOD WEIGHT WATCHERS

Hi to you all, Hope you are all full of enthusiasm to start the year in a way that gets us all back on track to losing our weight. Our club would like to thank Joy and Tony Easterby for their magnificent effort in organising the Christmas Hampers. Our members donated to the hampers and Tony said “He could not believe the generosity of the club members this year”. We raffled the Hampers and raised $400.00 approx. for the club. I have send photos of our Christmas Night. Kind Regards Susan Wetton

FORRESTFIELD WEIGHT WATCHERS

We had our Christmas dinner and wind-up on the 15th December with 66 members present and the Golden Roast caterers and the BAR open! A very good night…

One of our members LYN PATTISON became a Keeper-in Waiting. CONGRATULATIONS Lyn.

Lyn didn't have a lot to lose but it has been a challenge for her and in February we will have our 1st graduation dinner for 2016 which the all the committee will help to prepare. A very big THANK YOU to all the committee who turn up every week as there is always a lot to do with such a big club AND we are 10 years old this year!! Where has the time gone?? We would also like to heartily THANK our loyal members for without you there would be no club. We are hoping to do several inter-club competitions this year starting in February. Happy weight-loss… Sheila and Aileen.

WWF COMMITTEE NEWS Aileen and I were invited to Beverly clubs Christmas dinner on December 14th and were warmly greeted by all members. There was a door prize and raffle for each member (including guests!). The lunch was prepared and served at the Country Kitchen and was delicious. All the members were presented with a gift and the packaging was a gift in itself. We are taking ours to our clubs dinner on the 15th. We were also privileged to see 3 ladies presented with LIFE MEMBERSHIP badges.

Helen Bremner, Ruth Edwards and Sylvia Seddon.

Aileen and I wish to thank sincerely the Beverley club for their kind invitation and extend our warmest wishes for a healthy and happy 2016. Sheila State Secretary

PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE

Club Presidents please make sure that you check with your place of booking your venue whether it be your local council, schools if you hold your club meetings at a school venue, church halls etc. Most would now say you as a club would have to take out your own Public Liability Insurance. If you haven't taken out one in the past & have to now, PLEASE let the office or myself know so I can make the arrangements for your club to be covered. None of us like paying this Insurance but we really don't have a choice. I will automatically put the clubs on my list that Insured last year. Public Liability Insurance is not for registered club members. Shirley Sardelich State Treasurer

BELMONT WEIGHT WATCHERS

Belmont started off the New Year with a surprise morning tea for Jean C who celebrated her 90th birthday. Jean has been a member for many years and over that time has sold thousands of weekly raffle tickets.

Jean is also a graduate member and continues to keep her weight within her goal range. Congratulations to Jean and many thanks for her support of the club. This is our youngest member Zane, age 3, helping our oldest member Jean C at her 90th birthday celebration.

In December, 4-week daisies were awarded to Maggie, Andrew, Linda and the club overall. The gold star at year end went to Barbara for her 4.1 kilo loss and Bev was Queen of the Month. Members celebrated Christmas with a trip to Mandurah for the pageant and a cruise on the canals to see the fabulous Christmas light displays followed by fireworks. We also enjoyed a lavish Christmas luncheon with dozens of gifts and raffle prizes. Happy New Year to everyone and best wishes for success and happiness! Regards Maggie Van Putten

EAST MADDINGTON WEIGHT WATCHERS

We had a Great start to 2016 with a weight loss of 14kg over the Christmas Break, Kirsty lost a fantastic amount of 2 ½ kg to win our competition for the biggest loser over Christmas. We welcomed a new member Mary on the start of her weight loss journey. Looking forward to a great year Happy Shrinking Maxine

ELLENBROOK COMMUNITY WEIGHT LOSS GROUP

We finished the 2015 year with a lovely Christmas Party. The theme this year was dress up from the 70’s look. Well, a lot of our members really bought back memories from the 70’s. It was a great night the food was good. We had about 3 weeks break & kicked off the 2016 year with a GAIN of 23.5kg. Everybody tells me that they all had a very good Christmas. This is not a good way to start the New Year. Now these members have to lose all that weight yet again. NOT GOOD! Well I say let's go forward & don't look back.

To finish the old year off Barbara Blackburn & John Sardelich both agreed to finish the Apple Tree off after 4 months of losing weight. They were both presented with cheques of $50.00 each. This was a tremendous effort for both these members and I congratulate them both.

Not a lot to report until next time. Club President. Shirley Sardelich
