"Witness to Life" Pilgrimage to D.C
March for Life January 22, 2016
On January 21, 2016, young people from the Archdiocese of
Boston will depart to join hundreds of thousands of their peers
in Washington, DC, at the 43rd annual March for Life on
January 22nd, 2016. This powerful event began as a small
demonstra7on on anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade
decision. Today, the March for Life is the largest pro-life event in
the world and is a great opportunity to witness to the dignity of
all human life, especially the most vulnerable in our society -
the unborn. We are happy to once again invite you to join
Cardinal Sean O’Malley and the Archdiocese of Boston on this
life changing pilgrimage to rise up and witness to life in 2016!
We have four dis7nct tracks to best serve all those interested,
including a middle school, high school, young adult, and family
track. Please visit www.bostoncatholic.org/witnesstolife or
contact us at [email protected]; 617-746-5766 for more
informa7on.
We would like to extend an
invitation for children, ladies and
gentlemen to join in helping our
parish to pray in song.
A lovely group of singers can also
produce a beautiful choir solo from
time to time. If you would like to join this beautiful ministry
please see Joan Riley, our music director after Masses or call
her at 978-356-5494 and email [email protected]
Mass Schedule Change—January 2016 There will be no Sunday 5:30 PM Masses for the
month of January, 2016.
The Sunday 5:30 PM Mass will resume on
Sunday, February 7, 2016. There are a few reasons why the Masses have
been canceled. I will be away on two of the
Sundays and we are not able to get any priest to
cover the 5:30 PM Masses. There is no problem
with the other Sunday Masses, just the 5:30 PM
Masses. Also, there are a few “holiday weekends”
involved and very few attend when that happens.
But, the Sunday 5:30 PM Mass will resume on
February 7, 2016. On a general note, I will have to say that since
the 5:30 PM Mass started in September, the
attendance has not been good, many times the
lectors and ministers have not shown up, no
consistent ushers, etc. The only strong point has
been the Music ministry! The Sunday 5:30 PM
Mass may be a concern for the future.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Best Wishes from Becket the wonder dog…..

ENRICH YOUR MARRIAGE!
The Archdiocese of Boston has a new marriage preparation
program, Transformed in Love, that is being implemented through-
out the Archdiocese. We need more married couples to help with
the program. For more information, including the top 10 reasons
for being involved, please visit www.BostonCatholic.org/Training.
Maybe this is something God is calling you to do! ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED OR KNOW
SOMEONE WHO IS?
Attend the new archdiocesan program Transformed in Love.
Programs are offered regularly, but space is limited and
pre-registration required. A previous participant commented:
“A must have. Fantastic. I would strongly recommend to all
couples getting married.” Another participant said, “It was
fabulous! We truly enjoyed [the program] and really grew as a
couple.” For more information visit www.BostonCatholic.org/
TransformedinLove NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING (NFP) – EFFECTIVE, NATURAL AND MORAL
Couples use modern NFP not only for its effectiveness but also for
its marriage building qualities. It is never too late to learn and
practice Natural Family Planning. Access more information at

or no meaningful communication, if you are considering
separation or divorce, we believe Retrouvaille can help. You are
NOT alone! Our peer ministry is led by couples who have lived
through the honeymoon phase often followed by deep
disillusionment before finally finding resurrection in their
marriages using the tools taught in this program. Rediscover
a loving marriage with a Retrouvaille (pronounces re-tro-vy)
weekend. The 2014/2015 New England Retrouvaille marriage
renewal weekends will be held on: January 8-10, 2016 April 8-10, 2016 Sept. 16-18, 2016 To register for the weekend or for more information, call 1-800-

Our True Home Feast of the Holy Family (Cycle C) Sirach 3:2-6,12-14
Psalm 128:1-5
Colossians 3:12-21
Luke 2:41-52 Why did Jesus choose to become a baby born of a mother and
father and to spend all but His last years living in an ordinary
human family? In part, to reveal God's plan to make all people
live as one "holy family" in His Church (see 2 Corinthians 6:16-
18).
In the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, God reveals our
true home. We're to live as His children, "chosen ones, holy
and beloved," as the First Reading puts it. The family advice we hear in today's readings - for mothers,
fathers and children - is all solid and prac7cal. Happy homes
are the fruit of our faithfulness to the Lord, we sing in today's
Psalm. But the Liturgy is invi7ng us to see more, to see how,
through our family obliga7ons and rela7onships, our families
become heralds of the family of God that He wants to create
on earth. Jesus shows us this in today's Gospel. His obedience to His
earthly parents flows directly from His obedience to the will
of His heavenly Father. Joseph and Mary aren't iden7fied by
name, but three 7mes are called "his parents" and are referred
to separately as his "mother" and "father." The emphasis is all
on their "familial" 7es to Jesus. But these 7es are emphasized
only so that Jesus, in the first words He speaks in Luke's Gospel,
can point us beyond that earthly rela7onship to the Father-
hood of God. In what Jesus calls "My Father's house," every family finds its
true meaning and purpose (see Ephesians 3:15). The Temple
we read about in the Gospel today is God's house, His dwelling
(see Luke 19:46). But it's also an image of the family of God,
the Church (see Ephesians 2:19-22; Hebrews 3:3-6; 10:21). In our families we're to build up this household, this family, this
living temple of God. Un7l He reveals His new dwelling among
us, and says of every person: "I shall be his God and he will be
My son" (see Revela7on 21:3,7). A service of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology

The Holy Mass is:• the celebra]on of the Paschal mys-
tery-sacrifice (passion, death, resurrec]on) of Christ our Lord,
made present and efficacious within the Chris]an community:
“Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again”• the
true, real and substan]al presence of Christ with his Body,
Blood, Soul and Divinity: true God and true Man• the
communion-banquet with Christ and, thanks to Him, with our
brothers: through His sacrifice, Christ marvelously unites us to
Himself and to one another, in such a manner that we
become “one.”

Meet Fr. Vin −The Gift of Family
As the pastor of three parishes in Dorchester and Mattapan, Fr. Vin’s responsibilities are extraordinary. While his daily work is a source of great joy, it’s the love and devotion of a special sister named Connie that restores his spirit.
When Fr. Vin’s parents passed away, he and his sister Eileen became the sole guardians of their disabled sister. For Fr. Vin, being a brother and a priest for Connie is an immense blessing. The unconditional love that he receives from Connie—especially at the end of a busy day— continues to fill his heart with gratitude.
Fr. Vin selflessly dedicates his life in service to others. This Christmas, show your gratitude with a gift that cares for Fr. Vin and the health and well-being of all the priests who faithfully serve our Archdiocese of Boston.
Text the word PRIEST to 56512 or make a gift through your parish collection at Christmas Mass.
Thank you for your generous support of the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust.
“A priest, whoever he may be, is always another Christ.”
