Ancillary Poster Task

I have decided to make a poster to help advertise my newspaper. I wasn’t sure how to go about this so I decided to look at different papers and how they sell their product in different papers.

The London Paper

They have chosen to use colour schemes as the pivotal point to their advertisements and it does work effectively. They both give the message to the audience what sort of issues will be raised in the paper and what their attitude is towards it. The colour scheme runs concurrent with that of the printed publication to enforce the brand. The first posters uses conventional imagery associated with the audience i.e. the hand

with all of London’s main attractions in is also reflected in the slogan with ‘grab’.

Metro Paper

The Metro logo is in the centre of the advertisement which entices the reader into it and engages them. The distractions all around the logo symbolize everyday

life. The opposition of the blurred surrounding image to the clear bright Metro sign works very effectively as it is clear what the advertisement is about and shows the appropriate location you’d expect to find this product. It features the branding of the paper with the blue masthead logo that is featured on the printed newspaper as well as the strap line heavily utilised ‘Brand to Hand’.
