Ancillary Task - Poster

Progress

Here is the first screenshot of making my poster. I am making my poster in Photoshop. I have decided to use this image as the background, but then take Sarah’s face from another image and put it over her existing image, as it fits better with my design.

Here I have taken Sarah from one of the photos done in front of the blue wall, as it is the exact expression I was looking for. I removed the blue background using the smart tool, but will have to smooth out the edges.

Here I have changed the contrasts and lighting to make the poster more effective and mysterious.

Here I cut Jade from the background so that I could darken the background even more without making her less visible.I also smoothed the edges around Sarah, and added a title ‘Vengeance’. I experimented with the strokes around the writing before deciding red was the most effective as it matches Jade’s jumper and symbolises danger.

I got some feedback that the edges around Sarah looked too sharp, so after advice from my friend I used the burn tool around Sarah to darken the edges, which I think has integrated her with the background better.

After looking at some existing movie posters to see what sort of text they had on them, I decided to add the names of the two main actors at the top of the poster. I feel this integrates images with text better. I then moved the title ‘Vengeance’ up to make room for a summary of the credits, which I made bold in order to stand out more. I then added a small rating and a non-animated version of our production logo in the corners, followed by a release date in between.
