It is great to feel cozy in the winter with warm colors and soft, fluffyfabrics. In spring & summer however, a cool, airy look is moreappealing. Here are some simple ideas for transforming the look ofyour home with the freshness of spring..

1. Remove your cozy fluffy throws and replace with soft cotton or silkthrows for those warmer months. Everything should be clean andrefreshing, light and tranquil. Choose sheer fabrics, linens, and openweave textiles.

2. Remove the toasty down-filled duvet from your bed in the spring andsubstitute for a light cotton bedspread or a simple cotton blanket.Choose a shade that will go well with your existing curtains and paintcolour.

3. Floral arrangements of pine and holiday colours can be changed forlight, colourful ones for the spring and summer. Put away dark brassor pottery containers and bring out clear glass or crystal vases.

4. Change dark-patterned decorative pillows by covering them withfresh, floral prints or plaids for warmer weather. Either change out thepillows with a second set or alternate the decorative zippered covers.

5. If you have a collection of plates on display, put classic holidaydesigns away for the winter and replace with some cherished floralchina from grandma.

6. Have your draperies made so they are reversible allowing you toeasily turn them from lively to neutral with the seasonal changes.

7. Be sure to put garden magazines and flower books out on the coffeetable in the spring and summer. That will help bring the outside in andadd color to your interior.

8. Change your burgundy candles for some spring colours: think Easterwith shades of lavender, rose, and pale yellows.

Candles can be calming,energizing, inspiring, beautiful, elegant, and simply smell good.Depending on the scent of your candles, you can change the mood ofyour home. Candles are great no matter what time of the year it is. Howabout choosing candles in bright spring colors and fragrances? Addingsome spring candles can lift your spirits and add that special homey glowno matter what season.

Add spring decorating colors to your home. Towels offer a quick andeasy room makeover. In your kitchen and your bathrooms add somebright, bold colors that signify spring, birth, and renewal. These littletouches can make a huge difference in not only your attitude aboutcleaning and decorating but also your attitude about cooking.

Tips:

• Keep spring and summer colours and accessories light, both in feel andcolor.

• Changing with the seasons gives you an opportunity to get out somelong-lost pieces and make them the center of attention for a while. It’salso a time to recycle tired items that you no longer wish to keep.

• Clean & de-clutter as you go! It takes a lot less time to remove new dirtthan old, and to clean and put away stuff as you use it, than it is to cleanand store the pile-up you can accumulate.

• Ahouse that smells fresh will give the impression of cleanliness. Leavebaking soda on carpeting for the night to absorb musty odors, vacuumin the morning.

• Keep a big astro-turf mat on the porch to cut down on tracked-in dirt.

• Keep a basket in the kitchen (or near hallway table) for the mail, news-paper, car keys to help with clutter.

• Keep a hamper in every bathroom.

•Make everyone in charge of making his or her own bed and picking uptheir stuff.

• Always pick up the T.V. room before bedtime and start the dishwasheron your way to bed. It’ll work while you sleep.

• Prioritize; if your time is limited decide what is most important.

• It’s important to delegate: get the entire family involved.

•Make a checklist, when a job is completed, check it off - you'll feel asthough you are really accomplishing something.
