What does this mean? The bridegroom is Jesus Christ. The Virgins are us. His coming is the end of the world. It is not enough to wait and look forward to when all this will happen. A Message from Our Pastor:

“Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!”

It is a beautiful message that comes to a bride. Her beloved is almost here. But this is not what Jesus Christ is

talking about. The Bridegroom is at hand and we have to be ready to welcome Him. The parable presents to us

ten virgins ready to welcome him. All ten of them have good intentions and hope to rejoice in his presence. But it

is not enough. There is one thing that is necessary for it to be fulfilled. Their lamps have to be lit.

What does this mean? The bridegroom is Jesus Christ. The Virgins are us. His coming is the end of the world. It

is not enough to wait and look forward to when all this will happen. We have to have our lamps lit with an eager

heart, with good deeds, with pure heart. The source of this “oil” is our virtues, life based on faith, hope and love.

Without the virtues, we cannot welcome our Savior.

We can say nice things about Jesus Christ. We can practice some elements of our faith, but without life rooted in

Him we cannot welcome Him. Our lamps will not have the oil necessary to keep the flame alive.

In Christ’s Peace,

Fr. Marek

The Catholic Legacy Society was created to honor our legacy donors who have named their parish, Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs as a beneficiary in their will or trust, retirement account, charitable gift annuity or charitable trust, life insurance policy, or through the establishment of an endowed fund.

The Diocese is grateful to acknowl-edge these special benefactors during their lifetimes. And, in conjunction with our mission, this special society provides an opportunity for benefac-tors to make their philanthropy a perpetual legacy for themselves and an example for their families. It also creates an infrastructure of support that makes our parishes, schools and ministries stronger, sustainable and better equipped to reach future generations.

If you have named your parish, a Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs in your estate plan, or are considering doing so, we invite you to become a member of the Catholic Legacy Society.
