Week of Prayer for Vocations: For all young men and women of our

parish who are making lifetime choices at this time, that they will include ser-vice to the People of God as a religious, or in the case of men, Archdiocesan or

Passionist priesthood, among their other options, we pray to the LORD!

My dear Parishioners,

As we enter this first full week of November, significant changes

are about to happen in the nation and in our parish. Nationally, on

Tuesday, we will elect a president for a four year term; locally, we

will be participating in a Parish Revival under the leadership of

Josephite Father Anthony M. Bozeman, which will conclude Tues-

day evening. We know that, whoever wins the presidential race,

things will change drastically for the United States; for the better or

for the worse remains to be seen. We also know that if we

“Surrender to God’s Mercy” (the theme of our Renewal), things

will definitely change for the better for ourselves because we will

have been renewed — revived —by the Spirit of God.

A spiritual Revival is just what it indicates: it is a grace offered to

each of us to reclaim the zest and determination we experienced

when we first consciously committed ourselves to follow Christ.

Not just a passing experience, but rather something of the Spirit

that takes hold of us, propelling us away from all self-seeking to-

ward God and others.

Just the other day, Pope Francis, reflecting in a homily on the Beati-

tudes, suggested a further set of Beatitudes we might employ in

response to new situations. We might well keep them in mind as

we carry our revival beyond Tuesday: “Blessed are those who re-

main faithful while enduring evils inflicted on them by others, and

forgive them from the heart. Blessed are those who look into the

eyes of the abandoned and marginalized, and show them their

closeness. Blessed are those who see God in every person, and

strive to make others also discover him. Blessed are those who

protect and care for our common home. Blessed are those who

renounce their own comfort in order to help others. Blessed are

those who pray and work for full communion with other Christians.

All these are messengers of God’s mercy and tenderness, and surely

they will receive from Him their merited reward.” —Fr. Jerome

Pope Francis’ November Prayer Intentions Countries Receiving Refugees. That the countries which take in a great number of displaced persons and refugees may find support for their efforts which show solidarity. Collaboration of Priests and Laity. That within parishes, priests and lay people may collaborate in service to the community without giving in to the temptation of discouragement.

Veteran’s Day - November 11, 2016 On Veterans Day we honor men and women who have served and sacrificed in one of America’s armed services. The holiday is also meant to highlight America’s quest for world peace and our nation’s desire for justice and freedom throughout the world — our nation’s higher goals.

Help us, dear God, to see your face in every Veteran we en-counter. Guide us as we imagine new ways to support Veterans and their families. Bring healing and peace to all who have been wounded physically, mentally and spiritually during wartime. Help us bring your saving grace to heal the invisible wounds of war. We ask this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

den a nuestra Vida Espiritual y a nuestro destino eterno.

Aunque

este don generoso de Dios es

una bendición para esta Arqui-

diócesis, nos pone frente a un

desafío. Estos hombres necesi-

tan tanto nuestro apoyo finan-

ciero, como todas nuestras ora-

ciones. Esperemos que nuestra

ofrenda pueda ayudar a proveer

un buen futuro a los seminaris-

tas aquí en la Arquidiócesis de Atlanta. MUCHAS GRACIAS.
