TRANSCRIPT

I have decided to work by myself as I believe it’ll be easier as then I won’t have to worry about the blog and I also about the time consuming so if I worked in a group then I would have to try and find a time when we all aren’t busy and are all free to do some research or filming.

Working by myself I think will be a challenge for me but I’m looking forward to it because I’d like to show I can do it and would like to achieve to my best standard.

The genre I am thinking of doing is a horror scary film, I have created research on two films ‘Women in Black’ and ‘House at the End of the Street’, they have helped me understand the nature of a scary film trailer. They both included blackouts in the trailers to create tension and also use fades (slow and fast) which affects the readers.

Women in Black House at the End of the Street

Similarities between both films to look at:• low key lighting

• Fades to black screens

• silence

• Over-the-shoulder of the ghosts

Names for my production company:

I have decided to choose Direction Productions as the name for my production company because it’s different and I believe it stands out and also I could have a lot of ideas for a slogan. I could have used my name in the name for my production company like companies such as; Warner Bros and Walt Disney. I wanted to make it original and different then most production company names.

My logo

Slogan IdeasWith my slogan I wanted to play on the word ‘Direction’ which is the name of my production company.

This is to almost make people go to the cinema but I thought maybe it was cheesy and possibly not catchy enough.

I think this is maybe a good one but compared to other slogan for their production companies it maybe didn’t stand out enough compared to them.

I liked this one because the ‘one Direction’ part can mean going in the direction or for the boy band One Direction I think maybe the girls will like the slogan possibly. I tried mixing ‘go in the right

direction’ and ‘There is only one Direction’ and came up with There is only one right Direction. I think it doesn’t really work together.

I tried putting all of the slogans together and came up with ‘There is only one right Direction to go’ but I think it was too long and like the first one didn’t sound catchy enough, possibly was a bit boring also.

I think I will use the slogan 'There is only one Direction'. I think this is a good choice as it sounds a lot

better without the ‘to go’ at the end and the ‘only’ in it.

My Film Title

I thought of this title but I think it ruins the surprise and the story as the title being alive means that the character survives.

I like this but I think it is too simple really and a bit boring and plain.

I think this a good idea to use in the trailer but maybe not as the official title but include it as dialogue or something.

I really like this idea for a film title but after result, the title is already used for a TV series drama in 2012. So I will not use this as my films title. The title ‘lost’ I think

is a good idea but it has also been used like ‘missing’ for a TV series drama.

I also liked this but it has already been used for a film in 2012.

The film title ‘Taken’ has also been used for a film in 2008.

I really like this idea as it doesn’t give anything away about the story in the film and is more interesting and exciting.

I really like this one as well, it reminds me of the TV series Walking Dead.

I really like the film titles ‘Mystery’ and ‘Walking Alone’ I will some how choose between these. I think it would be a good idea to conduct a questionnaire and some how find out which one people prefer.

What rating will my film have?

Parental guidance's

Suitable for all

Suitable for ages 12 and above (accompanied by adult)

Suitable for 15 years and over

Suitable for only adults

I would like my film to be rated 12A as that means its scary enough for it to have rating of an age limit or must be accompanied by an adult if they think the film is suitable for their child. My film won’t include any sexual scene, drugs, bad language so they won’t be any include in the film trailer, which means there is no need for my film rating to be above 12A like a 15 or 18.

I think my film should be rated 12A as it will include horror, possibly injuries and blood but no rating above that.

I think it will be disappointing for a horror film ever to be a PG or definitely a U as I believe its not scary enough then.

Who will be in my trailer?

My sister: Gemma Habgood

I’ve decided to use my sister in my movie trailer because:

• its easier as we live together and she will be reliable to work with.

• I have used her before in my media AS work for my magazine cover and interview so I know she will take it seriously.

• Plus, she has asked me and is excited and looking forward to doing the filming for the trailer.

• I am not 100% sure what I’m going to do but I know what story I’m aiming to portray, Gemma has helped and tried giving me ideas so with this I know she will be good to use and she is actually thinking about the task and maybe how I could do something better or if something isn’t working.

• Gemma has also aloud be to distribute the trailer on to my blog after it has been finished.

I will also include my dog called Alaska in my movie trailer.

I don’t know what it is but the public like films with animals in it like ‘Marley and Me’, I decided to include Alaska because I think

the public always worry and want the animal tosurvive. Whereas; a film like ‘I am Legend’ when the dog dies, for me its always upsetting and hopefully people would go and see the film because in the trailer they want to see how it ends but also what happens to the dog.

Locations

When it came to choosing a location I wanted it to be a easy place to access in case I needed to do some last minute filming and the actress I have chosen to play the main part it easy for us to get to this place also.

I decided to chose the woods as its stereotypical that most horror films are shot in the woods or that sort of area of some kind. In example; the ‘Women in Black’ and ‘House at the End of the Street’ are filmed in a deserted area and near a woodland place. I think the streets or at home isn’t really what I was looking for in a place to film. For me it doesn’t have the right approach that I want to give out to the views.

With using the woods it will be a quiet setting and I believe I don’t need permission to film at this location, the only potential issue is the public I suppose because they might accidentally be loud and be heard in the scene which could cause problems.

Anything else?

Another problem I believe I might have is which the sound with my practice videoof around Shirley High School, this is something I have to change and improve inorder for my movie trailer to work. I found a website (http://soundbible.com) whichincludes copyright music and sounds that I could possibly try and include in mytrailer, I will first use the practice trailer of Shirley High to understand what I’mdoing.
