From Fr. Joe…

This coming Friday, we are very honored to be host to The 177 Project. This is part of a national tour that’s bringing a night of Eucharistic adoration and music by professional Catholic musi-cians to all 177 dioceses in the U.S. between late September and mid-December. At the same night that recording artists Ben Wagner and Taylor Tripoli are with us here in Malone, the tour will also be stopping in Santa Fe, Chicago, and Charlotte. This is a really big deal! Adoration Artists, which is organizing the tour, sought out our parish to be their host in the Diocese of Og-densburg because of our monthly Hearts on Fire holy hour…and just happened to want to be here on a First Friday. I do hope we can pack the place for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You can get free tickets on the parish website or from the parish office. A Family of Faith is off to a good start for another year! We had a great first meeting with parents last Sunday and already have 28 families registered to take part. It’s not too late to sign up! If you have school-aged children or grandchildren (especially 1st/2nd graders preparing for First Holy Communion, or 6th/7th graders preparing for Confirmation), now is the time to en-roll. Also: if you are a Catholic adult who has been baptized and received First Communion, but has not yet been Confirmed, this program will prepare you to receive the sacrament in the spring. Registration packets can still be found near the entrances of the churches. Now that we’re back to having two priests around on a regular basis, our daily Mass schedule will be getting back to normal…but with one change. During these last 6 months, we’ve had a 5:15pm Mass pm on Thursdays (allowing me to take a weekly day off), and it has developed it’s own congregation of 20 folks or so. After consulting with the Pastoral Council, I’ve decided that we will continue to offer this evening option once a week, along with daily Mass at 12:05pm (Mon., Wed., Fri.) and 6:45am (Tue., Wed., Fri.). presents

This fall, the 177 Project is partnering with 22 different art-ists to bring an evening of Eucharistic Adoration and music to every single diocese in the US! On October 5, 2018, we’ll be at Notre Dame Church in Malone and we want you to join us. Tickets to the evening are completely free and can be picked up in the church office or by visiting www.the177project.com. Can’t wait to see you there!

The 177 PROJECT

WELCOME,

FR. MIKE!

Little Flower’s Girls’ Club Growing holier, one virtue at a time

What is it? A mother/daughter program that strives to provide young Catholic girls ages 5 to 12 an opportunity to gather and learn about their Catholic heritage, faith and traditions. Little Flowers Girls will learn what it means to be an authentic Catholic girl

and woman. Little Flowers Girls’ Club provides a strong founda-tion on which to build, whether the young girl is called to a life of consecration to our Lord, as a single woman, or as a wife and mother.

How will we do this? By using saints’ biographies, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Sacred Scripture, the girls will learn the basics of the Catholic faith in a fun faith- and friendship-filled environment.

When & where? We will meet twice a month (on a Thursday) from October to June, at Frassati House from 6:00pm-7:30pm. First meeting is scheduled for October 11th!

Cost: Registration fee is $35, which will cover the cost of a sash, virtue badges, member’s guide, and craft materials.

You can find registration forms at the back of the church or on the parish website. Please have your registration forms and fee in to the parish office prior to October 5th.

St. Therese of Lisieux, pray for us!

Rosary Procession

Sunday, October 7, following the 11:00am Mass

HOLY FAMILY SCHOOL

Numerous studies show that parents place their children at Holy Family School for three reasons: 1. A total education, which includes growth in religious awareness and an appreciation of morals and values. Ac-

cording to Catholic School Data compiled from the NCEA, there are a total of 6,525 Catholic elementary and middle schools in the US representing a total enrollment of 1,915,836 students. (Which happens to be a huge relief to taxpayers locally and nationally.) 2. A superior academic achievement of Holy Family School stu-dents. Catholic school students have a 99% high school gradua-tion rate and 85% of graduates go to college. (Holy Family School falls in a range above at about 89% for college bound stu-dents.) 3. The secure and disciplined learning environments provided by Holy Family School. (Teachers and staff receive training in Vir-tus, a program that ensures the protection of students.)

What Happened to the Sign of Peace?

The exchange of a friendly handshake or a hug shortly before Holy Communion is a moment of peace and joy—two precious things of which every victim of sexual abuse has been robbed. Throughout this month of September, we will omit the sign of peace to stand in solidarity with all who have been hurt by the crimes and cover-up of members

of the Catholic clergy, and as a vivid reminder of the urgent need for us to be real instruments of Christ’s peace in our broken Church and troubled world.

A Prayer for Healing

Hear the humble prayer of your people, God our Father, as we implore your mercy. Bring healing to all who have suffered physical, emotional, or sexual abuse at the hands of your ministers and restore them to fullness of life. Forgive your Church for the immense evil that has been committed and the great harm that has been done. Grant the grace of true repentance to all who have broken sacred trust, destroyed precious innocence, and failed to protect your beloved children entrusted to their pastoral care. Reconcile us to one another and never allow us be parted from you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“The Lord heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

“I was sick, and you visited for me” (Mt 25:36) Did you know that about 50 of our parishioners currently receive Holy Com-munion regularly at home because they’re unable to join us at Mass? (This is in addi-tion to those who are in the hospital, nurs-ing home, or other senior residences.) We

have a dedicated core of volunteers who make Communion calls to the homebound…but we are in need of some more. It means so much to our sick and elderly members to be visited by some-one from their Church! And it’s quite rewarding, as well. If you’re interested in helping with this important ministry, please call the parish office. Training will be provided.
