    Pastor’s Note…

Holy Family 2020 Bulletin Article. Karen Haynes has retired from St. Mary’s in Frankfort. I want to take this time to affirm her for her gifts of time, talent and treasure to our parish. She has been the parish secretary for several years and has done an incredible job. The parish of St. Mary is grateful for her service. She has more responsibility taking care of elderly parents and in-laws. She has chosen to spend more time in that way. I affirm her decision. Taking care of an elderly family member is a wonderful way to serve the Lord. May God bless her in her new adventures. Karen’s responsibilities will be shared in a couple of ways. We will begin to have a joint bulletin soon. It will be coordinated by Susie at St. Joseph. St. Mary will pay for Susie to coordinate the bulletin. Lori will take on some of Karen’s responsibilities. Mario will take on some on her responsibilities as well. Exactly how this will all happen is a bit fuzzy right now, but hopefully will become clear quickly. If you want something in the bulletin you may contact either Lori in the parish office in Frankfort or Susie in the parish office in Lebanon.

Stewardship Prayer Corner “Whatever you do,” says St. Paul to the Colossians, “...do it

in the name of the Lord Jesus. Give thanks to God the Father

through him.” And so it is that we offer our gifts in the

Eucharist “through Him, with Him and in Him, in the unity of

    the Holy Spirit…”

Parish Finance Council Tom Merritt (Chair), Aline Anderson, Dan Lamar,

Jon Lehmkuhler, Jeff Newman, Michele Thomas

Financial Stewardship Due to an early bulletin submission deadline,

last weekend’s collection will be published in

    the January 3 bulletin.

Thank you for your continued financial support to St. Joseph! Your generosity and ongoing commitment in remembering your

parish during this difficult time is most appreciated.

If you have not yet signed up for Online

Giving, please consider this option for

    your contributions. Parishioners who use

Online Giving are pleased with how easy it is to set up and

manage. By using Online Giving you are helping the parish

improve its operational efficiency. Visit our parish website at

    www.stjoeleb.org and select Online Giving.

    Congratulations to

    Josh and Sarah Carl

    on the baptism

    of their son,

Joseph Thomas Carl, on December 20, 2020

    Baptism

Christmas is the perfect time of year to give a gift in honor of

    Jesus’s birth!

As the end of the year approaches, we begin to reflect upon the many blessings bestowed upon us. The end of the year also provides a great opportunity to thank God for these blessings. Take advantage of the charitable tax deduction for gifts made before

December 31 (benefits of income tax deductions, capital gains savings, and other financial benefits), and consider the variety of gift options available to you. Your gift to St. Joseph Parish can make a great difference.

May God bless you for your continued generosity!

    NOW FORMING

Our fellow parishioners! For the Mass following Christmas, to help families live out

the joy of Christ, Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William Lori

has composed a prayer through which families will come

together to consecrate themselves under the protection of the

Holy Family. In this prayer, we ask for the aid of the

intercession of the perfect son, Jesus Christ. Mary, the perfect

mother, and Joseph who is a model for every father.

You should find a prayer card to be made available for you

from which to read. During these times of Covid, we ask you

    keep the prayer card.

For those who are homebound, we invite you to read the

    provided prayer seen below.

O Lord Jesus, you lived in the home of Mary and Joseph in Nazareth.

There you grew in age, wisdom and grace as you prepared to fulfill your mission

as our Redeemer. We entrust our family to you.

O Blessed Mary, you are the Mother of our Savior. At Nazareth you cared for Jesus

and nurtured him in the peace and joy of your home. We entrust our family to you.

O Saint Joseph, you provided a secure and loving home for Jesus and Mary,

and gave us a model of fatherhood while showing us the dignity of work.

We entrust our family to you.

Holy Family, we consecrate ourselves and our family to you.

May we be completely united in a love that is lasting, faithful and open to the gift of new life.

Help us to grow in virtue, to forgive one another from our hearts,

and to live in peace all our days. Keep us strong in faith, persevering in prayer,

diligent in our work, and generous toward those in need. May our home, O Holy Family,

truly become a domestic church where we reflect your example in our daily life. Amen.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!

The Knights of Columbus Council 13968, Thank you!

Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in

the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above

all things, and I desire to receive You into

my soul. Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally, come at least

spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as

if You were already there and unite myself

wholly to You. Never permit me to be

    separated from You. Amen.

please comply with these protocols for the safety

It is important to consider the following when making the decision to attend Mass at your local parish:

    • Am I considered to be in an at-risk group? Or caring for someone who is?

    • Am I able to comply with all of the necessary diocesan safety protocols in place for my parish?

“I expect the people of our diocese to continue to keep the Lord’s Day holy,” said Bishop Doherty. “To be dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass does not mean people should stay away from the Church. I continue to invite each of you prayerfully consider attending Mass to fully experience the gift that Jesus gives us in the Eucharist and so you may share in the spiritual gifts of the Church with your parish family,” he explained.
