was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and favor before God and man. - Lk 2:51-52

ST. ANSELM STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

St. Anselm College has announced a substantial new student scholarship, effective immediately and applicable to students from select New Hampshire schools who start en-tering the college in the fall of 2016.

The Bradley Memorial Scholarship, named for the Right Reverend Denis M. Bradley, first Bishop of Manchester (1884-1903) and one of the founders of St. Anselm College, is available to all students of six Catholic high schools in New Hampshire who are accepted to the college. No sepa-rate scholarship application is required and no criteria are attached to awarding of the scholarship beyond admission to St. Anselm based on academic and extracurricular achievement and graduation from one of the named Catho-lic high schools in New Hampshire.

The Bradley Scholarship grants $6,000 of institutional aid to the students for each of a maximum of four years they attend St. Anselm College. The Scholarship is non-need based; it is awarded automatically to students who graduate from the six eligible Catholic high schools in New Hampshire and who are accepted to St. Anselm as Fresh-men or Transfer students. The six private Catholic high schools are Bishop Brady in Concord, Bishop Guertin of Nashua, Holy Family Academy in Manchester, Mount Royal Academy of Sunapee, Trinity High School in Manchester, and St. Thomas Aquinas of Dover.

These awards are made in addition to any merit aid earned by the students. The benefit continues throughout the honored students’ undergraduate careers providing they remain academically eligible and in good standing. Institu-tional aid is financed by the college; It is not from an en-dowment.

The first students benefiting from the Bradley Scholar-ship will be the class of 2020.

THIS WEEK’S GOSPEL Each year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom. After they had com-pleted its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus re-mained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaint-ances, but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your fa-ther and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age before God and man. Luke 2:41-52

Jesus’ mission is an important and ongoing one. Just think it really started when Jesus was a boy!

THE PASTOR’S PONDERANCES

Today Jesus emphasizes just how important His com-ing to earth impacts up all for all time and beyond. For as a boy he “interrupts” the journey to be about His Father’s business in His Father’s house. Wow! How moved Jo-seph and Mary must have been to witness Jesus’ listening to the elders and asking them insightful questions. We too, especially during these times and as we are about to cele-brate the beginning of our salvation at Christmas, should have a big WOW in our hearts. Fr. Daniel

SR. LUCIE SAYS

This weekend we celebrate the Holy Family

of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. It is also the third

day of the Octave of Christmas. Our hearts are

hopefully still filled with Christmas joy. As the

communion antiphon reminds us, “Our God

has appeared on earth and lived among us.”

Our Lord, though not visibly present, is cer-

tainly very much with us. Let us open our

hearts during this Jubilee Year of Mercy as de-

clared by Pope Francis. Let this be an oppor-

tunity for us to cultivate more mercy and for-

giveness.

PRAYERS FOR OUR COUNTRY Please join in saying a silent prayer for our country at 12 o’clock noon each and every day. Evil is all around us but so are blessings, and we know God hears our prayers. A meaningful prayer like “have mercy on us” or “God pro-tect our country” said sincerely is all that is needed or your own words that come from the heart. Thank you “nothing is impossible with God.” Your name is not necessary, but if you wish to give it, our names will be sent to the Divine Mercy Prayer Line for our protection. Contact: Jackie Emerson at 692-4296 Cheryl Keery at 755-2198

OFFERTORY GUIDELINES When making a donation using a check, please do not make the check for a single amount for different donations. Each collection should be separate as we must list cash from checks, etc., in 2 or 3 different places. For example, this weekend we have the regular offertory and the special collection for Retired Religious. To help us appropriately account for your donation, it would assist us greatly if you would make out two separate checks. It also helps if when using envelopes, you would put a check mark or list the amount on the envelope. This would be GREATLY AP-PRECIATED.
