AWAITING THE SALVATION OF GOD The world does not seem big enough to contain the jubilation of the first reading. In the Gospel reading, the Roman empire isn’t big enough, either. The great powers of Rome are named and made to stand waiting for the arrival of God’s salvation. And we find Paul meditating joyfully on what really matters. According to Baruch, the city of Jerusalem is like a person standing on tiptoe looking for God’s salvation, which is coming from the east. Those who were led away on foot, heads down, now come back, a proud people. Why, the very way is smoothed out. The path is lined with fragrant, lush trees. It can’t get any better than this, can it? A LA ESPERA DE LA SALVACIÓN DE DIOS El mundo no parece tan grande como para contener el alborozo que causa la primera lectura. En la lectura del Evangelio, el Imperio Romano tampoco es lo suficiente-mente grande. Los grandes poderes de Roma se designan y se hacen esperar por la salvación de Dios. Y encontra-mos a Pablo que medita gozosamente en lo que importa, en lo que realmente cuenta. De acuerdo con Baruc, la ciudad de Jerusalén es co-mo una persona que en puntillas espera la salvación de Dios, que viene del Este. Tuesday respectively, the daily Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 PM followed by the Novena

to Our lady of Guadalupe. All are invited to come to pray to our Blessed Mother.

Continuando con nuestra Novena a nuestra Señora de Guadalupe; El 10 y 11 de

diciembre, lunes y martes respectivamente, la Misa diaria se celebrará a las 6:30 pm,

seguida de la Novena a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Todos están invitados a venir a

orar a nuestra Santísima Madre.

Advent 2 Sunday                                                          

As this second week of Advent we must think of Mary and her anticipation as she awaited the birth of Our Lord and Savior. In a similar manner we should be anticipating and preparing the way of the Lord. We hear John the Baptist calling us to prepare our hearts to greet the Lord.

We read from the beginning of the gospel of Mark 1:1-8; Here begins the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. In Isaiah the prophet , it is written: "I send my messenger before you to prepare your way: a herald's voice in the desert, crying, "Make ready the way of the Lord, clear his a straight path."

Thus it was that John the Baptizer appeared in the desert proclaiming a baptism of repentance which led to the forgiveness of sins. All the Judean countryside and the people of Jerusalem went out to him in great numbers. They were being baptized by him in the Jordan River as they confessed their sins. John was clothed in camel's hair, and wore a leather belt around his waist. His food was grasshoppers and wild honey. The theme of his preaching was: "one more powerful than I is to come after me. I am not fit to stoop and untie his sandal straps. I have baptized you in water; he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit." Ps. 85 I will hear what God proclaims; the Lord -- for he pro-claims peace to his people. Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him, glory dwelling in our land. Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.

Domingo de Adviento 2

En esta segunda semana de Adviento, debemos pensar en María y en su anticipación mientras esperaba el nacimiento de Nuestro Señor y Salvador. De manera similar, deberíamos estar anticipando y preparando el camino del Señor. Escuchamos que Juan el Bautista nos llama a preparar nuestros corazones para saludar al Señor.

Leemos desde el principio del evangelio de Marcos: Mar-cos: 1: 1-8; Aquí comienza el evangelio de Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios. En Isaías, el profeta, está escrito: "Te envío mi mensajero para que prepares tu camino: la voz de un heraldo en el desierto, que clama:" Prepara el camino del Señor, despeja su camino recto ".

Así fue como Juan el Bautista apareció en el desierto proclamando un bautismo de arrepentimiento que condujo al perdón de los pecados. Todo el campo de Ju-dea y la gente de Jerusalén salieron a él en gran número. Fueron bautizados por él en el río Jordán cuando confesa-ron sus pecados. John estaba vestido con el pelo de ca-mello y llevaba un cinturón de cuero alrededor de la cintu-ra. Su comida era saltamontes y miel silvestre. El tema de su predicación fue: "Uno más poderoso que yo es venir detrás de mí. No soy adecuado para agacharme y desatar sus correas de sandalia. Te he bautizado en agua; él te bautizará en el Espíritu Santo". Salmo. 85 Oiré lo que Dios proclama; El Señor, porque proclama la paz a su pueblo. Ciertamente, se encuentra su salvación para los que le temen, la gloria que mora en nuestra tierra. Señor, veamos tu amabilidad y concédenos tu salvación.

POSADAS The Posadas will begin on Saturday, December 15th. Please note that during the Posadas, the daily Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 PM. The

weekend Posadas will be after the 5 PM Mass on Saturday and after the 11:30 AM Mass on

Sunday. The schedule for this year’s Posadas is as follows.
