PISD FEATURED IN TACS TODAY MAGAZINE FOR 4-H PROGRAM

The Palestine ISD 4-H program that began last year as past of the district’s ACE program

was featured in the September, 2019 issue of TACS Today magazine. The article explains

how PISD Texas ACE and 4-H programs have joined forces to provide new opportunities for

students. Shanna Marshall, PISD ACE Project Director, a former 4-H member herself, is

excited to see Palestine ISD students enjoying 4-H activities.

Welcome back, Wildcat fans! We are excited to kick off the new school year with a full athletic calendar. Our student

athletes have worked hard in preparation for the new season. Cross Country is ready for their first meet in Union

Grove on Saturday, Volleyball is in full swing with the varsity team competing in the Groesbeck tournament today and

tomorrow, Team Tennis hosted their first home match of the season on Thursday, and varsity football will kick off

their season on September 1st versus Mabank. We encourage our fans to come out and support all our fall sports.

As a reminder, please don’t forget Meet the Wildcats, Monday, August 28th, 7:00 p.m., Wildcat Gym! We look forward

to introducing our football, cross country, fall tennis, and volleyball teams, as well as student trainers, band

members, cheerleaders and Kik Kats. Representatives from the PISD Athletic Booster Club will be available, also, to

answer any questions you may have about memberships and volunteer opportunities.

For up to date information, schedules, and upcoming events, please visit the Athletic webpage at

In Volleyball action:

The Ladycats played Pittsburg at home last Friday night in their first home game of the season. JVB lost a tough

match in 3 ( 25-13, 18-25, 11-15). JVA defeated Pittsburg (25-22, 22-25, 25-23)! The Varsity girls lost in three (20-25, 17-

25, 17-25). Faith Newman picked up 22 digs. McKenzie King had 22 assists. Destiny Mathews had 10 kills while Shayla

Arthur added 8 kills. The Ladycats will resume play in the Eustace tournament playing at 9 am vs. Mabank in the

Championship bracket.

The Ladycats hosted Alba-Golden Tuesday night. The JVB team fought hard in a 3 game match, but came up short (25

-20, 21-25, 23-25). Our JVA team won in exciting fashion coming from behind in the 3rd set to win (15-25, 25-16, 25-20)!

Our varsity girls showed heart and fight in their 5 game match with Alba-Golden. We came up short, but very proud of

the effort the girls gave (26-24, 15-25, 25-23, 22-25, 12-15). We will be playing in the Groesbeck tournament this Friday

and Saturday!

Volleyball:

The Ladycats traveled to Athens on Friday, September 20th and came back with a win (25-21, 25-22, 25-20). Ka’Zem Wood led the offense with 8 kills, Shayla Arthur added 6 kills and Ay’Lasia Fantroy has 4 kills. Ay’Lasia Fantroy had a huge night at the net with 5 stuff blocks! Raina Hanzik has 11 digs while Ka’Zem Wood added 10 digs. Katie Litynesky has a team high 7 assists on the night. The Ladycats will begin district play with Fairfield at home today (Sept 27) at 4:30 pm.. Our JV Volleyball Team lost a tough one in 3, and our JVB defeated Athens in 2 sets.

Cross Country:

The Girls Cross Country Team earned another team championship at the Elkhart Invitational this week. The Ladycats were led by Helena Lara, who finished in 10th place, followed by Cristell Francia in 12th place, Samantha Chaidez 13th place, Karina Gutierrez 15th and Kacie Danchak in 18th. Our JV Cross Country Team was led by Izabel Simien, who finished in 1st place, followed by Laura Cabrera in 2nd, Yari Garcia in 3rd, Celeste Lara in 4th, and Amy Rangel in 5th place to complete the perfect score of 15 points total. Boys Cross Country Teams (Varsity, JV and JH) competed in their home meet on Saturday, September 21st and the teams also competed in the Elkhart Invitational this week where they came away with a clean sweep of the 1st place Trophies in all of divisions. All three teams completely dominated the competition at both meets. Luis Rangel (Varsity) and Jalbert Sando (JH) came away with two first place medals, along with Lizardo Lemus and Oben Reyes collecting the JV 1st place medals. Upcoming Meets: Thursday, October 3rd: JV/V Boys @ Garden Valley Golf Club/Lindale Saturday, October 5th: Pre-District Meet in Fairfield

Football:

The Wildcat Football Team picked up their second-straight victory

with a, 56-35, win over the Fairfield Eagles on Friday, September 20th.

The Wildcats will take on the Crandall Pirates at the Homecoming game

tonight (Friday, September 27) at Wildcat Stadium.

State Representative Cody Harris flipped the coin for the Wildcats vs Fairfield Eagles game on Friday, September 20th.

Congratulations to CBTX..Commercial Bank of Texas' Player of the Game Jeremiah Davis. Jeremiah had 28 rushes for 208 yards and 3 TOUCHDOWNS against the Rusk Eagles. For the season, he has a total of 520 yards and 8 TOUCH-DOWNS for three games.
