THIS WEEKEND

WEED WARRIORS, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 9AM - Tennis Courts: Two immediate tasks, plus one longer-range. We must find a company to install railroad sleepers in angular fashion across hillier parts of the Trail now facing real erosion. We can't usefully distribute chips on the Trail until that's done. More immediate tasks: Some will want to carve out connections to M-NCPPC paved trails that residents can then access freely. Others will want to work behind the 5000's to cut brambles to the ground and rearrange the existing trail away from the backyards of the 5000's residents. Most of this area has already been cleared through the generosity of the Robbins and Joy Liasson. They will gain privacy, while residents will trek more within the woodlands and less on folks' lawns. LWVPGC, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 10AM – GAME ROOM: The League of Women Voters, Prince George’s County will hold an open meeting from 10AM – 2PM. SUNDAY AFTERNOON CONCERT, SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 3PM – AUDITORIUM: Our featured artist for this Sunday will be vocalist, Karen Lovejoy. A favorite on the local scene, Ms. Lovejoy has performed at the 219 Club, Mr. Henry’s, and Blues Alley, to name a

few popular nightspots. Her repertoire includes Ballads, Bossa and "Down Home Blues." For her program at Collington, she will present a "Jazz Tribute to the Beatles." Let this program be a prelude to our Super Bowl Party. See you on Sunday!!! SUPER BOWL PARTY, SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 6:30PM – AUDITORIUM: Come out and enjoy some food and fun and watch the New England Patriots vs. Atlanta Falcons at NRG Stadium in Houston. This will be the Patriots' ninth Super Bowl appearance, which will break the all-time record they had previously held with the Cowboys, Broncos, and Steelers. As for the Falcons, they're slightly newer to this whole Super Bowl thing. The game against New England will mark just the second time in franchise history that the Falcons have reached the Super Bowl!!!

THIS WEEK POETRY GROUP, MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 3PM – BOARD ROOM: We will be finishing the poems of Philip Larkin. January 30, 2017 Dear Member of the Collington Team, Each and every one of you reading this is a part of a large and close knit international family here at Collington. We represent numerous countries from all over the world and proudly celebrate that diversity throughout our community. As you undoubtedly are aware, an executive order recently signed by President Trump placed a ban on immigration into the United States from certain countries. This ban is currently being challenged within our judicial system. Be that as it may, I feel it is important for you to know that Collington stands firmly shoulder to shoulder with all of you. We welcome with open arms all individuals. In writing this letter, I am reaffirming Collington’s commitment: “To encourage and welcome all people without regard to race, color, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, or any other characteristic protected by law, to live in our communities and to serve on our staffs and boards.” - Excerpt from our Values & Practices As a reminder, you have access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which can help with a variety of personal concerns including legal matters.
