All trip sheets will be put out 2 weeks in advance of the following month, so subscription series holders, be mindful to sign your names to ensure your seat on the bus. If you want to trade/exchange ticket,s make sure your name is scratched off the trip sheet to be certain that you will not be charged. REMINDER: For the Courier that will be distributed for the week of May 29-June 2, the deadline will be on Wednesday, May 24 at 12PM. boats staffed, so the start of the race will be pretty exciting, chaotic. Mr. Murphy will be very much present. SIMON ROMAN’S MISSING BOOK: The Flaming Pillar of Cappadocian Caearea, The life of St. Basil the Great by Sister Mary Jerome Roman OSBM. It was an old, hardbound book without a cover. If you happen to come across it, the family would greatly appreciate its return to them. It was inadvertently donated to the Op Shop or Library. If found please contact Simon Roman’s daughter, Alicia Roman at [email protected] or (571) 309-6356. A MESSAGE FROM THE LIBRARY COMMITTEE: Signs about food and drink are posted in the Library for a reason. Ironically, someone recently spilled a lot of coffee on the carpet by a Library computer near one of those signs. There already have been mice in the Library enjoying the crumbs left on the floor. Eat and drink somewhere else, not in the Library. Thanks to all the people who responded to our plea for more Window Sill books, and particular thanks to the people who are putting money in the box. We'll be spending some of it on new book orders May 13. SILENT AUCTION FOR RESIDENTS’ ART: You may have noticed the wonderful collection of art on the auditorium hallway walls – created by residents and donated to support the Scholarship Fund, through a silent auction. Here’s how the auction works: There is a bid sheet on a clip board next to each work of art. If you would like to bid on a specific piece, put your name and the amount of your bid on the sheet. The bidding will continue until 6PM on Friday, May 19, the date of the gala A Night in Spain, where the winning bids will be announced. Bids need to be increased by increments of $20. You do not need to attend the event to be the successful bidder. Questions? Please contact Mike McCulley at x7338.

Cocktails in the Courtyard will be followed by dinner and dancing in the Auditorium. Watch for your invitation in your box! MILITARY VETERANS: Whenever veterans get together socially – at reunions of all kinds - they seem to naturally share experiences. Think of your days in basic training, kitchen police, combat, on-the-job training, funny things, aggravations, etc. Here’s a Collington experiment, all voluntary: For a couple of months, meet in the Ivy Lounge on the 11th of the month of May at 11 a.m., then the same for June 12th (11th is on Sunday). Let’s see how it goes, and we can make changes or drop it altogether. Veterans/Armistice Day will remain on the calendar, and WILL continue to be observed as a solemn event. For more info on the veteran’s chat-fest, contact the Denmans, x5111 or John Geron, x7551. ATTENTION, BINGO PLAYERS: In May, BINGO will be played on Wednesday, May 17 at 7PM in the Game Room. The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. The group was born in December, 1981 when some staffers for Senator Charles Percy were planning entertainment for a Christmas party. Their first idea was to stage a nativity play, but in the whole Congress they could not find three wise men or a virgin. So, they decided to dig into the headlines of the day, and they created song parodies and skits which conveyed a special brand of satirical humor.

Have any ideas for a fun and exciting trip? The Trips Committee meets the 1st Tuesday of every month. The next Meeting will be Tuesday, June 6.

Announcement of New Director of Sales & Marketing for Collington! Greetings Friends! On behalf of Collington and the Director of Sales and Marketing Search Committee, I am pleased to announce that Lindsey Hamilton has been offered and accepted the position of Director of Sales and Marketing. We are completing pre-hire protocols this week and Lindsey has made it clear that she wants to start as soon as possible. Don’t be surprised if you see her as soon as next week! Our search included the review of numerous resumes resulting in two candidates being invited to present their skills and qualifications to the Search Committee. Additionally, each candidate had meetings with various stakeholders including members of the Residents Association Marketing Committee, the Leadership Team and the Marketing Team. After all the participants provided feedback on each candidate, it became clear that Lindsey was the right person for our community and we are delighted she agreed! Lindsey comes to the Collington Family with nearly 15 years of experience in sales and marketing in aging services, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters in Bereavement and Thanatology Studies. When asked why she wanted to join Collington, Lindsey said that she really felt the values of our organization matched her own and that she wanted this to be her “forever home” for her professional career. Please join me in welcoming Lindsey to our community! Sincerely, Marvell Adams Executive Director
