Meet Rehab's New PT Contractor— Steve Avallone, PT, DPT

Steve is a Physical Therapist from Long Island, NY, who studied at Upstate Medical in Syracuse, NY. He enjoys video games, cooking, and making lists in sets of threes. Steve also enjoys tennis, skiing and hiking reasonable distances. He is also devilishly handsome, but only because we gave him too much freedom in writing his own bio. Come stop by the Rehab Gym and say hi!

WELCOME TO THE COLLINGTON CLINIC!

In an effort to make your visit to the Collington Clinic a positive experience, the following is a list of Frequently Asked Questions. When is the Clinic open?

Monday through Friday from 8:00 am –4:30 pm Weekends: Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am—1:00 pm

Who are the Health Practitioners who will provide care for me during my visit?

Health services are provided through a physician-owned Medicare certified provider group—MDICS. The group that provides care in the Clinic consists of physicians and physician assistants. For details regarding each physician and physician assistant, please ask for a copy of the Meet the MDICS Provider Team at Collington fact sheet. The Clinic is also staffed with two nurses and a Receptionist/Medical Assistant Monday through Friday and one nurse during the weekend hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Are physicians/physician assistants available to provide services to me on a daily basis?

Yes, by appointment. Can the MDICS group serve as my primary care provider?

Yes. However, just like any other physicians office outside of Collington, they are not available 24 hours/7 days per week.

What services does the Clinic provide? The following services are provided in the Clinic: basic wound care as prescribed by a Clinic provider, basic First Aid, immunizations, diagnostic testing (phlebotomy services), and medication management (*not medication administration), and basic health education.

If I have an emergency, how can the Collington Clinic help? If you have an urgent need, call the Clinic (x2225 or x7791) and ask to speak with a nurse. They will conduct a phone interview with you to ascertain if a visit is warranted in the Clinic, if a physician is available, or a visit will be made to you in your home. If you cannot reach a nurse in the Clinic, call Security at x2020. They will contact the nurse who will come to your home. The nurse will then conduct an assessment and determine if you will need Prince George’s County EMS (Emergency Medical Services). If you have a SARA Pendant, use it! Security will respond and will bring a nurse.

If you think you are experiencing a HEART ATTACK OR STROKE, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY!

REMINDER! The Collington Clinic is not an urgent care center and it is not an acute care hospital emergency room. Therefore if the nurse’s assessment determines your need as being emergent, Prince George’s County Emergency Medical Services will be notified and you will most likely be transferred via ambulance to a local hospital.

Do I get to select the hospital I am transported to? No—because your situation is considered an emergency, the ambulance will transport you to the nearest hospital accepting admissions.

Can the Clinic help me order my prescriptions? Yes. There is a charge for this service.

What insurances does our Clinic take? Physician services are usually covered under Medicare. If not a secondary payer source will be used. Acceptable coverage will need to be discussed with the billing office of the specific physician and/or the Collington Finance Department. Treatments and other services done during a clinic visit will have charges printed on your visit Encounter Form. They are billed to your Collington account. NOTE: IF YOUR INSURANCE IS KAISER PERMANENTE, YOU ARE REQUIRED BY KAISER TO UTILIZE KAISER SERVICES AND FACILITIES.

Are specialists available to complement Collington’s MDICS providers?

Yes, some specialists come to the Collington Clinic. Ask the Clinic staff for a detailed listing.

What hospitals does Collington Clinic partner with? Hospital selection is your choice. We do not endorse any particular hospital.

How long will I need to wait to visit with a provider in the Collington Clinic?

Wait times vary. Patient visits are scheduled according to estimated length of time for a particular treatment. Walk-in visits are first come, first serve.
